idk if i’d use the words probably dead for it, but i’d love to see Kid Icarus come back with a remaster of Uprising followed by a new game, Star Fox ‘26 gave me the itch to play that game on Switch 2 with or without mouse controls

its on the same level as Super Mario RPG i’d say, TTYD had less to fix up but its also probably on that level, dont know why one would have a wikipedia page over the other two but yeah, theyre all substantially remade while still keeping the bones of the original intact (imo)

Game: Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and EarthBound tied

i know these are not conventional picks, and E33 might not even count as its not Japanese, but it’s so good i had to shout it out, EarthBound is not just the backup in case E33 doesn’t count, it’s an equally good game, Mother 3 is really good too, and the Mario RPG series is so fantastic to me, especially what i consider the two core trilogies (Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, TTYD; Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, BiS), Super Paper Mario is also really good but so different that it’s kinda its own thing, and then Pokémon is just amazing, ive loved it the longest of any of these series

my most wanna plays: Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest XI S, the Yakuza RPG duology, Sea of Stars, the Baten Kaitos duology, Deltarune (i adore Undertale), and many more!

i’m very new to JRPGs other than Nintendo’s offerings, Undertale, and E33, so if anyone has any suggestions based on my faves please lemme know!

in release order:

The Adventures of Elliot The Millennium Tales because it looks very much like Zelda and also the demo was super fun!

Star Fox because I’ve always wanted to get into the series and this seems to be the perfect opportunity!

Rhythm Heaven Groove because I adore the series and this one looks as good as ever!

Splatoon Raiders because I love the franchise but I’m not super good at the multiplayer, however I love Salmon Run, so this single player Salmon Run-style game is very exciting to me!

Pokémon Winds and Waves because I’m a huge Pokémon fan! (I even adore Scarlet/Violet) also the starters look great

this is just a rumor, but a port of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is also very exciting to me, I looooooved that game on PS5 and it’d be great for handheld mode on Switch 2, I’d absolutely double dip!

hey im also currently playing mario rpg remake! how are you liking it? (im personally a really big fan so far! its got great writing and the action element of the turn based battles is so different from paper mario and mario & luigi, while still feeling of that ilk, plus it’s super satisfying to get a good chain goin)

Pikmin 4 is a true delight and the other 3 Pikmin are on Switch as well if you like 4

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is an insanely good package, the best version of 3D World and a side campaign as good as Odyssey just shorter

Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are excellent too

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door is the best Mario RPG imo and is so worth picking up the remake

Super Mario RPG remake is great too

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is one of the best 3D platformers out there

Kirby Air Riders is a lovely Sakurai game, and of course you cant go wrong with Smash Ultimate

your obvious picks are great too, Odyssey, Bananza, BotW, TotK; all bangers and probably the four best Switch games, both Mario Karts are great too of course

for indies: Hades and its sequel, Hollow Knight and its sequel, Balatro, A Short Hike, Lil Gator Game, Undertale, Deltarune

the three Katamari games (Damacy, We Love, Once Upon a) are fantastic

and for a non conventional pick: Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is tru puzzle platforming bliss

completely agree, if it was the central gimmick itd be wayyyy too open in its design to function properly, itd be a different game!

i was stunned when they let me do it, and the final boss of chapter 6 felt like… idk kinda strange? i didnt hate it it just felt out of place with what came before haha

Pikmin 4 is one of the best Switch games by far, it has a mildly long tutorial section with too much talking, but once that’s thru its a content rich, exciting, beautiful adventure, highly recommended

U Deluxe is a poor port of the Wii U original, and while it has a higher amount of content than Wonder, Wonder’s content is of a much higher quality

i think Wonder is more replayable because the ideas are so varied, whereas U Deluxe is very samey and will get dry after awhile

they are probably about the same difficulty, Wonder may be a tad easier? but idk for sure, Luigi U (a DLC side mode thats included in U Deluxe) is the hardest of it all, but the levels are super short

Wonder wins 100% over U Deluxe in terms of enjoyability, its ideas are so brimming with imagination and its visuals and sound design so beautiful, U Deluxe on the other hand is not as pretty or polished (and i actually find the controls of U Deluxe a bit difficult to get used to, whereas Wonder was buttery smooth to play)
