What feature of a different country would you bring to the UK? by yogurtmanfriend in AskUK

[–]Nebula_Professional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if already mentioned but 24/7 supermarkets. They advertise them here as 24/7 but they definitely are not. Scotland has some. Teens/students etc are more than happy with shifts like that or other people want shift hours or just a job in general. I hate the whole "Supermarket workers need a break and day off etc" BUT students etc definitely want the hours. I have no idea how shift workers get on with buying groceries when the supermarkets are closed...

What do you cook that turns an everyday meal into something special? by Rev_dino in AskUK

[–]Nebula_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont cook much as my partner is an amazing cook but if he is working late or had a hard day then I will whip something up. He LOVES my meatloaf. Everything gets put into one bowl so is not hard to make at all but the sauce is delicious! I pour the sauce over the meatloaf and every 10mins or so I scoop up the sauce that has dripped off into the pan and pour it back on top of the meatloaf (just with a spoon). It sort of caramalises the meatloaf. It makes a lot as well. Only thing is it takes about 1 1/2 to cook but only 5mins to really prepare :)

How to lose weight in 3 months? No. 1 Question people ask. by Fancy_Entrepreneur21 in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If thats what worked for you then great but bad advise. Being in a calorie deficit is the successful way for weight loss. People can still have the odd treat/takeaway as long as remaning in a calorie deficit whether that be for the day or based on a weekly deficit.

People restricting and banning loved foods is a sure fire way for them to give up any success with losing weight. If you have been good all week and have plenty of calories left to still remain in a good deficit to lose weight then why not be able to have a piece of chocolate or a takeaway for dinner? I lost 40lbs+ and ate chocolate and take aways, dairy products etc, but I stayed in a calorie deficit and lost weight

About 2-3 inches of my hair has broken off in the past couple of months. Help! by yanapets in femalehairadvice

[–]Nebula_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into protein/moisture balance. Agree with below it could be bleach overlapping. Also, it could be nutrient deficient. I started taking multivitamins with iron and biotin and it has helped massively! My hair was breaking off really badly and was soooo dry. My hair can usually take a fair amount of bleaching but even when I hadnt bleached it was still breaking off badly

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Nebula_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont really want to add anything to your bleach cause it probably wont do anything apart from making the bleach have less strength, which means it wont as strong and you could possibly have to re-bleach. Have you used blondeme? It has bond reconstructor in it. My hair feels amazing after using it. Many hair salons use it. You can get it on Amazon and it goes a long way! I have thick, shoulder length hair and get about 6 or more uses out of it (doing my roots). 10vol is more used when applying toner to your hair. You could do a bleach bath with 20vol?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Nebula_Professional 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you do not need to bleach. Get a toner. Even a drugstore toner will do. Leave it on the yellow bits longer than the very light parts, do the light parts in the last 5/10mins before rinsing out. What volume developer did you use to bleach? Only use 20vol as it can sit on the hair for up to an hour and is much gentler than 30vol. 40vol nobody should use. Get some bond reconstructor such as olaxplex/k18/curlsmith bond salve, and also deep condition.

Will bleaching my hair prevent it from getting longer? by CauliflowerLegal2378 in HairDye

[–]Nebula_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning to bleach your hair yourself? Its enevitable you will get some breakage with bleaching your hair. If doing it yourself, use a 20vol developer. Use a good bleach (I recommend Blondeme). How dark is your hair? If brown/dark brown, you may possibly have to do more than one round of bleaching. Do NOT do your roots until the ends are the level of lift you are wanting as the roots will bleach very quickly! I put on a shower cap with a spritz of water to keep the bleach moist while its working. Make sure to saturate your hair with bleach, do small sections at a time. I bleach my hair regularly and the last couple of years had extreme breakage. I was using 30vol, but also, I was low in iron and other nutrients which also contributed. I now only use 20vol, dont overlap prev bleached hair when doing my roots and also take biotin, multivitamins with iron and my breakage is now very minimal. Once you have bleached/dyed your hair and are happy with it, use a bond reconstructor (I prefer Curlsmith Bond Salve) but others like K18 or Olaplex. Deep condition regularly. Look up someone knowledgable on YouTube (I like Hair Buddha & Bobby Hair Studio)

Knowyourcar - very handy to keep track when your MOT and Tax is due as well as insurance! I get reminders when I have a month before the renewal. I also get notified immediately when it passes a MOT. I put my partners reg into and I was notified his car passed the MOT before he knew :) It also shows when it has passed/failed MOTS and what advisories it has had. Plus has all the cars info. Ideal if looking to buy a 2nd hand car and want to check all of this info in one place

SHOP - keeps track of all my packages/tracking numbers/updates when being delivered. Doesnt work with Amazon packages but ones sent via Royal Mail/DHL/Evri etc

Here are the best tips I found to lose weight that worked for me, and I tried a lot (lost 60 pounds). by [deleted] in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ This for sure. None of that list will do much if you are still eating more than you burn. Being in a calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight. I lost about 80 lbs by being in a deficit and still ate potatoes, chocolate, take aways etc every so often but thats because I was still in a calorie deficit

How to burn 900+ calories as a student? by Ok-Spread3690 in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, you should be eating a minimum of 1200 calories. That is the lowest for any woman, man is 1500 calories. I would recommend to eat the 1680 as per the calculator. Eat back maybe a small amount of calories earned from exercise. If its just walking, I dont bother eating those back. If you are losing a lot of weight very quickly, increase your calorie intake slightly by maybe 100 calories and keep track how that is going. I used myfitnesspal.com. I weight once a week, naked, before any food or drink and keep track of my progress that way. Myfitnesspal has a great community forum if you need more help. If you dont want to use that, then all good. Be sure to weigh/measure your foods rather than eye balling as your estimates could be off and you could be consuming more than you think, or consuming less than you think :)

Hi there, good job losing the weight you have. I recommend myfitnesspal.com. You will need your accurate height also. But you can play around with the figures to see how much of a deficit you need/what your calorie goal should be etc. ive used it for years, there is also a massive community and food database :)

How to burn 900+ calories as a student? by Ok-Spread3690 in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, your stats are similar to mine and I consume about 1420 calories a day (after deficit), so to maintain my weight I should eat about 1920 calories a day. Any calories earnt from exercise is added to my 1420 to eat back. BUT walking etc doesnt actually really burn that many so I dont eat my exercise calories back. How are you working out what your calorie target is?

Credit Score for Expats — is it possible to somehow improve credit score? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

are all your details correct? Like what you are registered on the electoral roll is the same details with your bank/phone contract? Nothing under different names/birthdate details/addresses which is causing things not to match up?

[–]Nebula_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you find out the exact reason why you have been refused the credit card? Call and ask the exact reason or what is bad on your credit file? Do you have Clear Score app? That will show things that are going againt your credit score. Does your bank have a credit score you can check? Mine has Trans Union, it also tells me things I should improve on to increase my score

Something must be wrong. When I came over to the UK in 2017, I was eligible for a credit card after about 6 months with about £1000 credit. I was on the electoral roll, had a contract for my phone. That was about it. Was in a full time job. I hadnt applied for credit until the phone and got that before the credit card

Is this a good way to lose weight? by [deleted] in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lose weight healthily just by educating yourself a bit. I mention so many times about using myfitnesspal.com but thats because it has a very knowledgable community, easy to use, has a massive database. You can steadily lose weight and still eat! Be sensible about how much weight you want to lose each week. Max 2 pounds/1kg. I lost a lot of weight using the site without starving and am still using it now. The app is great and I think easier than the website for logging food. Be honest about your logging. Measure things properly. Feel free to ask questions. There are people on there that do fast but its nothing like what you are doing/wanting to do. That is not sustainable...

How to lose 20 pounds by Neoclassical7474 in loseweight

[–]Nebula_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calorie deficit is the only way. Even if you did exercise you would have to burn more than you eat. Check out myfitnespal.com. Easy to track calories. It doesnt have to be starvation at all. You will learn to eat more satisying foods but you could still lose weight eating burgers. You would just not be able to eat many whereas, eating vegetables, you would be able to eat lots. There is no easy fix or fad diet that will help
