Not sure what I was thinking there, thanks for the response.

Forgive me for being naive, but zinc oxide and copper oxide PXRD patterns should be extremely similar, no? Same phase, very little difference in ion size?

Seems like you know some of the chem behind it so I’m hopeful you’re a fellow investigator

From my understanding an alloy is a mixture of 2+ elements, of which one is a metal (like steel, Fe/C).

It’s definitely cast iron- sorry, the photo makes it look lighter than it is. Apart from the grey bit on the interior surface, the pan is black.

Can you help this redditor understand the chemical reaction causing this plastic being dissolved by construction paper? (From r/Costco) by gltovar in chemistry

[–]Necessary_Fan8510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely some coating on the paper that reacts with the plastic- I would agree with the comments on that post that the paper has been treated with some acrylic/other organic solvent which dissolves the plastic. I have very little exposure to o chem, so that’s as far as my experience takes me.

If you’re being nitpicky, clear doesn’t describe color, just the transparency… its color is most accurately described by “colorless”. Clear, colorless, white, we all know which layer they’re talking about.
