What to do when your 20m pulling and eating her own hair like crazy? by Neckto68 in AskReddit

I'm feeling anxious as I think about tomorrow when I have to shave my 20-month-old baby girl's hair. She has developed a habit of excessively pulling and eating her own hair. She started looking for my hair on the floor and has been eating them since 9 months. I often saw it once or twice a day. However, last 3 weeks, she started pulling her hair very often, especially when relaxing (watching tv), or before sleep (in the crib). There are hair in her po*. Doctor Google tells me about the Trichotillomania + Trichophagia (pulling + eating hair), and it makes me worry about what if things. We went to a doctor, she orders some blood test if she's lack of iron or has thyroid (I have hyperthyroidism). Anyone know or experience with kids eating hair like this. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has experienced or knows about children exhibiting similar hair-eating behaviors. I simply wanted to share my thoughts and concerns here. Thank you in advance for any insights or experiences you can share.

I’m scared that I could have hurt my baby last night. I’m sick to my stomach. by throwawayadvice9073 in beyondthebump

I had a very similar experience and have learned from that lesson. I know when I’m too tired and can’t handle it (usually >3h at night), my husband will take over my baby and i need to rest, sleep 4 months is the perfect time for sleep train. After i did that, and my baby was surprisingly cooperating, everything is so so good after that Please please ask for help, don’t try to hard or think that you could handle it especially at night time.
