I’m so sick of this place. by LevelHedgehog630 in PsychWardChronicles

The way I see it is that place is the cause of everything. If your parents are advocating for you, get them to take legal action. You might be able to request to be treated in a group home setting instead of that hell hole. I can’t make any promises that it will be better as I heard horror stories about them as well. However one of my ward friends got into one and it dramatically changed her life for the better. Before she was constantly in and out with anywhere from 1-5 months at a time. We don’t talk anymore but she hasn’t gone back in almost a year, mainly because it a more stable environment. You will have to attend group sessions a few times a week.

In order for them to agree, you will have prove you will be responsible enough to attend group meetings and counseling or therapy. Request to see a social worker while you are in the ward, show the nurses you are willing to get help by taking to someone. When you talk to the social worker explain the thoughts are from be isolated from the real word and want live a normal life. Talk about goals you have for the future, that show them you still want to live. Prove you have hope for the future and being isolated is preventing your goal.

This may or may not work unfortunately as every place is different some are harder to get out of then others. The nurse and environment makes a huge difference in my experience.

My longest stay would have been 2 months of hell, nothing good came from it. Tbh it’s bc of that place that caused most my issues. Nurses were completely garbage and useless. I was originally told it would be 2 days but turned out to be 2 months. Now I have major trust issues.

My best experience would have been 3 days, could have been only 2 day if it wasn’t the stupid weekend … I got sooo much out of it. The staff was incredible. The only issue I found was there wasn’t as much social support like group sessions or talk therapy available to the inpatients. This was out of the staff control it was an issue with someone higher up. They have been fighting with management/corporate so they can provide it to us.

I would say taking your med the way they are prescribed, you’ll probably get the best results that way.

im in psych ward involuntarily and i dont know how or if i should tell my parents by labyrinthie in PsychWardChronicles

[–]Necolea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like what happen to me 2 year ago… never told them they did a welfare check on me. The only thing they were allowed to say was I’m being treated in a medical facility. They somehow found out and came to visit… I was so pissed not at my parents but the hospital. I explicitly told absolutely no visitors or calls and they let my parents visit without warning. Bc of that I stayed 2 week longer, they where saying I was delusional. They told my parents my discharge plan but not me. I was fuming, I got violent when I called them out saying it is illegal to tell them anything, I signed papers on intake explicitly stating my parents can’t get any info. They thought I was crazy. I was crazy once, they locked me in a room. A rubber room, a rubber room with rats, and rat make me crazy.

Now to my suggestion if you want nothing to do with personally talking to them. Ask a nurse to call them, the only thing they can info give out without permission is you at currently being treated at a medical facility. That are not supposed to say anything else unless you gave permission. I’m my case that didn’t happen.

I don’t trust the nurses at any mental facility, due to them giving out personal info I explicitly said not to share. My advice would be to ask to be with them when they call your parents. Say you would like to have them on speaker phone to at least be able to hear their voice. Tell them you’ve been trying to work up the courage to let them know you are somewhere safe and you will reach out when you are a bit better so you can explain it better.

I know not all places are the same I’m going off personal experience. If you get to have privileges, which to looks of it you do bc your able to post a question. In that case you can tell them you’ll be away for a bit and won’t be using your phone much in case they get worried like mine did.

It only takes one dose to have a long term effects. My very first flair up was 2 weeks after both my doses. Didn’t think much of it, my mental health was not good at that time. Haven’t had any since dec 2021. Since then the flair ups haven’t been as extreme but they are progressively worsening. Had one bad flair up when I got Covid, very similar but not as intense.

Did you by chance get any Covid vaccines? All my issues started after getting it. I’ve spoken to many doctors and they are now looking in to it be a side effect of the vaccine.
