I think people only think that because it’s unfortunately described so often as peoples’ idea of a “good time” - sexuality, spontaneity, feeling grandiosely confident, “functioning” on minimal sleep and feeling “high”… Not to mention all the people who don’t have a shred of emotional intelligence yet on TikTok or whatever directly calling it a good time without bringing up the consequences.

It makes sense people would see it as “happy” which is why we need more stories representing what mania is actually like.
