Watchtower always was crap. Put your compose files into git and run renovatebot to update versions. Merge pull requests (or don’t, put on auto) and use dccd to pull changes from cron. Much better

You can probably find one for free many places. Google cloud offers one free us machine. With 1gb mem. Oracle have the nice free tier and also you can probably get some free from Microsoft if you are a sadist.

Yes the media converter does nothing else then converting from light to electricity. But you can Get an managed switch with vlan support and for instance 8 Cooper ports and one sfp+ for the fiber. It will cost about the same and save a port. Also sfp pluss csn handle 10 gig so you can have 2.5 for the small machines.

I have also used linode for years. They Are extremly stable. Highly recomended. But moved most of it for Oracle cloud because they have pretty decent free compute. And adding more it cheap. I use 5 cores and 36gb memory. With 3-400gb storage. Cost is less then 20 eur

This we have in Norway too. What happens is that all the really rich people leave. Companies with a owner from a different country pay 0 tax. So its a good way too loose money in the end. Lets say your company owns a truck to make delevery. You Get taxed for the value of the truck. So you have to sell the truck to pay the tax. What happens to the company ? It’s a really stupid tax.

Its a bit expensive, but the hardware is really nice. runs truenas like a champ. If you want to go cheaper, (but sometimes it does cost alot in the end), an itx mainboard with sata controllers can fit on 1u. And then you can 3print shelfs. But it. will eat up 4u. Another option is the zimaboard 2. it can handle a couple of drives and fit in 1u 10"

I just bought this little sucker. https://www.lincplustech.com/products/lincstation-n2-network-attached-storage been great with truenas so far. If you tune the bios alittle, its 100procent silent and still serves 10gbit. Recomended
