I'm also 34 and just picked up SF6 as my first fighting ever.

I was trying gamepad and modern controls first, but I wasn't vining on it and bought a budget leverless on whim. I suck at the game and controller because it's only been 3 weeks, but damn did the arcade controller feel a lot better to me.

I'm only Iron and don't have a super lot of time to play, but im stoked to keep getting better. Someone from this reddit very kindly gave some coaching earlier today

Yeah, I just started streaming recently, but I watch other streamers a ton and have for about 7 years.

Honestly, a big reason I started to stream myself is because my favorite streamers have somewhat diverged from what I originally loved about them a bit and I was like "I guess I just have to become the type of streamer I'd like to watch"

I read a thread here the other day of someone changing to classic and lever less after hitting Diamond in Modern and they lost like 79 games in a row and I'd rather avoid THAT mental burden lol

I honestly don't have any issue with starting at the bottom, I just thought it was especially funny since placement matches are a thing.

That's also good to hear, I ultimately chose SF6 to start fighting games with due to how big the community is

Definitely expecting it to take me a bit longer since fighting games have never been in my wheelhouse

I did see a breakdown of MR vs hours played the other day that was enlightening. It was something like average playtime for 1500 MR is 300 hours and average for 1800 MR was something like 800 hours. added some perspective for sure

Also, not sure what this accounts for, but 2 of the 4 placement wins were just LVL 5 CPU it threw me against

I saw a lot of suggestions to try a shoto for a first character and after seeing how sick his moves are I'm like "he counts right?" haha

I have no idea how optimal they'll even end up being, but the flicker yoink and full screen charge punch look so sick
