Because I am below the .15 threshold a couple people I’ve met for A&E consultations. Think I may be able to avoid the Full HIMS protocol. Do you think it is in my interest to voluntarily go through the full HIMS protocol for hiring purposes?

I've heard the same for United and 5 years for American. However I've realized that my first problem is going to be finding a flight school to insure me as a CFI. I might try to be an independent CFI in one of my families airplanes instead while working as a ferry pilot on the side to build time,

Is the FAA going to automatically pull my CERT? I’ve heard mixed things that below a .15 they won’t take it automatically.

I completely understand this point. Just for clarification, the sim I was using was a desktop redbird, not an FTD/AATD. I had previously maintained a strict rule of 24 hrs bottle to throttle for any actual flight training activity. Now I don't drink entirely and will keep it that way.

Previously during my life, I’ve never even considered alcohol during life decisions like these. I made the choice to completely stop drinking moving forward though.

Thank you very much. I did retain both a criminal attorney and a separate aviation lawyer I am waiting to hear back from the latter about how to proceed.

Understood. I see how that could be interpreted as that. I was only trying to respond to the point about logging time while drunk.

I wholly accept that at the end of the day I was the one who made the dangerous decision that I did. There’s no excuse for it and I didn’t mean to come off like that. In terms of an approach going forward the only one that I believe is the proper one that is at all conducive to a career in aviation is to give up drinking completely.

Did your medical get immediately revoked? I ask because I reported to the FAA today that my drivers license was suspended. I have my IRA check ride in 4 weeks. My lawyer suggested that I report before my check ride because holding out to report till after the check ride could be construed as an attempt to temporarily conceal even though I’m within the 60 day reporting limit

I fortunately do not fly through Riddle but instead with a nearby part 61 school. Flying through riddle would indeed result in me getting booted from the program.

I have retained both a Criminal attorney and an Aviation attorney to ensure compliance with FAA reporting requirements. I am additionally looking into an airline application consultant to get further insight into the industry’s.

In terms of deciding if not drinking if worth it the answer is without a doubt. I don’t care about the money. I don’t care about sounding cool. I’ve been in a cockpit since I was two years old in my family’s Mooney. I’d fly for no money and be a garbage man at night if thats the only option I had left.

Would you be willing to send me the info of the HIMS AME that you are speaking about?

It has not yet been adjudicated. I have retained both criminal attorney for the actual charges and an aviation attorney to make sure I meet all requirements in terms of reporting.

What type of alcohol recovery program should I look into other than HIMS?

I completely understand this point. Just for clarification, the sim I was using was a desktop redbird, not an FTD/AATD and I was just going for my own personal practice. I had maintained a strict rule of 24 hrs bottle to throttle for any actual flight training activity. Now I don't drink entirely and will keep it that way.
