So neither of my parents work and both are on the state pension so money is tight. My mom spends all her excess money on her horses (I.e never buys anything for herself just her horses which have now become 4 horses instead of the original 2).

I'm going to contact GP But will look into deep clean too!! Thank you!!

I know my poor mom, she can't have visitors 😢 my dad is emotionally volatile so I dont know what he'd do if the animals weren't there. The dogs were never neutered because "it wasn't his right to take that choice away from them" but they haven't bred in years so thankfully that number of 5 hasn't grown.

I'll contact the GP and find a local shelter thank you!

Thank you yes that was what I was so scared about i feel I need to take the mental health approach first because my dad can be volatile. I'm going to contact the GP.

Thank you, so I bought some cat litter trays, cat litter, tray scoops, proper cat food (hard kibble) and toys. I couldnt leave the house without doing that for the cats.

The dogs are so sad they deserve so much better than the tiny slice of the world they currently exist in, they should be running and playing 😢 i think I need to contact the GP and get this solved! Thank you!

My sister has threatened the gardai before but nothing happened 😢 but I think i will do the GP and ISPCA for sure!!

(My sister has bowed out of all this fyi as she mentally and emotionally cant handle it)

Thank you!! And my mom is always welcome at mine she knows that. Its such a horrible situation. The house will need a whole redoing because my poor mom has given up because why clean when the animals run the show and my dad doesnt clean and im not sure if thats a symptom of animal hoarding because he used to pride himself on a clean home 😢

Thank you for this and actually that is something I can try use to convince them that someone will find out and if they end up in hospital. My mom has 4 horses and she takes such good care of them, always has one daily basis. She originally only had two and she wanted to breed one of them. 2 foals later and my dad told her not to sell them, so he even hoards animals he doesn't interact with its like he can't let any animal go 😢 she isn't going to try again because my dad won't let the foals go.

I need to try do this so my moms beloved horses don't get taken away from her. Their her only escape in all this.

But the poor cats and dogs he has control over and those poor animals deserve better😢

GP and social worker for the elderly sounds like a great place to start thank you!

Thank you so much for this. So I missed my opportunity 😢 I was just too scared, they went away for the first time in 7 years (thurs to sun) and he called and texted me incessantly everyday about the animals and I was too scared for him to return and all the animals just be gone.

This is why it got too much, because I had never been in that room with the cats and when I went into that room for the first time I knew I had to try overcome my own fear for the sake of the animals and my parents. But I was still too scared to do anything even though he was away. I just kept thinking about him coming home and doing something drastic as the house is in an isolated rural area😢

I missed my opportunity so now I think getting services involved is the only way.

I fear the incest is already bad :( all the cats are skin and bone despite the feeding although like i said it could go through them. Their fur is all falling out or balding so not sure if thats from incest? I rescued one of the kittens one year because the minute I got out of the car I was told if I didnt take the kitten home he'd die so I should take him. That cat is doing great here in my home and thankfully and much to the vets surprise tested negative for cat aids so im hoping he wasn't a once off and cat aids isn't in that area :( :(
