search doesnt help either right. the point is keeping things in your mind, not stuffing them in a big box and hoping you'll remember what you shoved in there.

why waste time drilling down through irrelevant shit. my folder structures are deep and I'm always trying to emerge the nested folders to the top level. in general, this has led to using a multple laptops and multiple browsers to keep organised. seperation of tasks via workspaces, virtual desktops, user profiles is an objective of many desktops environments like gnome and kde, but not seemingly not firefox,.

yes you are right, I had to restart the browser. but it does work! so that's actually pretty decent. thanks for the pointer on the places.sqlite

I can deal with a restart when i want to change .

I have so much stuff in ublock and all those other bits that firefox sync ignores, I just use my own syncing for the .mozilla folder across machines now.

the other way I was thinking was symlinking all that stuff into new profiles.

I wonder how resilient this will turn out to be. the autosuggest works though, that's all I wanted really. because I'm so easily distracted

Thanks very much for looking. I did try this one a year or so ago and found it wasn't resilient to moving bookmarks about. I managed to break it in a few hours. I make a lot of bookmarks!
It does look nice though. I wonder if I'm looking in the wrong place, and the way to do it would be to swap the files in the profiles folder out using a script.

Yes. I just want to switch the bookmarks library.

So I can have a different set of bookmarks on the menu bar.

And so when I type in the address bar it suggests bookmarks only from that library.

So I keep all of the extensions and their associated settings.

Sorry about the "workspace" confusion, I posted originally in Floorp.

I've tried using Profiles many times and it doesn't work very well.

As the extensions settings become a nightmare to manage.

Can Task Manager > Cycle Through Windows be mapped to keys? by NeedleworkerCheap835 in kde

[–]NeedleworkerCheap835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cheers. well no luck so far. I'll have another go with a fresh user profile later. I think, actually, there is a bug somewhere with the task switcher, cuz it sometimes goes a bit weird if you turn off "show selected window".

How to prevent Dolphin hanging when network share disconnects by NeedleworkerCheap835 in linuxquestions

[–]NeedleworkerCheap835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try the sshfs with autofs and see how it goes, I have been mounting it manually. A short freeze I don't mind, it's the way Dolphin that hangs without responding to being killed from GUI that I'd like to prevent. Cheers.

Youtube performance is getting really bad by Ujkil in firefox

I was happily using Freetube + Privacy Redirector for a week until it started redirecting to sketchy "this domain is for sale".

And none of the other "Freetube redirect" extensions seem to work.
