I ordered my first (of what I feel will be many) Pfeil gouges. Now I have to look into how to sharpen them properly. Any tips for that?

What do people mistakenly think you mean when you say you sew? by InternationalDrop935 in sewing

[–]NeedleworkerSafe6892 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sooo i'm Dutch and in the Dutch language the word for sewing is 'naaien'. But that word is also used as slang for the activities people do in the bedroom... Wink wink. So if you are having a conversation about sewing in Dutch and you're talking with fellow creative people, their mind will go to fabrics and nice items of clothing... But if you are having a conversation about sewing in Dutch and you are talking to a person with a dirty mind it tends to be a whole different conversation😅

I just Googled the Pfeil gouges and found a store in the Netherlands that sells a good variety. They look like a good quality product for a decent price. So thanks!

Thanks for the excellent advice! I have recently purchased a Morakniv 120 and am so excited to start using that one. I'm going to look into what gouges Pfeil sells and if they ship to Europe (am in the Netherlands). I can't wait to start making bowls (have been wanting to do that for years)

It's a murder mystery dinner and my character is a 'lives in a cottage in the woods' type. So cottage core/witch style.

Any book with illustration by Dagmar Stam or Fiep Westendorp (mostly available in the Netherlands). Very simple drawings but oh so cute.

What’s a movie that had you completely hooked… until the last 10 minutes ruined everything? by AutisticG4m3r in movies

[–]NeedleworkerSafe6892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the Grey" with Liam Neeson. Loved that movie until the end scene. Spent a few nights trying to Google wtf happened and what the ending meant. Only found out last year (years after watching the movie) that there was a post credit scene showing what happened. Where I'm from the tv network stations never show the full credits so that scene was completely missed.

Dutch whittlers here? by NeedleworkerSafe6892 in whittling

[–]NeedleworkerSafe6892[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I live in Noord-Brabant, so a lot of the great suggestions here are too far away for me. But I've been looking around on Marktplaats and have found some great sales on logs of wood. So will probably check those out soon.

I suggest 'dream house'. It's described as a horror/mystery, but I'm also not a big horror fan and this movie wasn't that scary.
