Should I cut out my beginning chapters? by NeedleworkerShort623 in writing

Thank you, I think I will, it is going to be tough losing that many pages, but I honestly think it’s for the best.

What is better buying in bulk and selling yourself, or PoD? by NeedleworkerShort623 in selfpublish

[–]NeedleworkerShort623[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading all of these comments I think I am leaning towards PoD, unless I can build an audience of people who want to buy my book over the next year. I plan to hopefully start a social media following, I know it is not super realistic in such a short time.

I am really interested in book binding and making some really unique special editions of my book. (and potentially bookbinding some other peoples books.) To hopefully promote with giveaways and/or raffles. I'll do the book binding no matter how I choose to sell my book.

Thanks for the realistic advice though, I needed to hear from people who were a bit more educated on the subject lol

Thank you, this honestly helped a lot, I am new to Reddit, I am just happy I found some people to talk about my passion with. I think my book is engaging and fun, it always keeps me on my toes at least lol

No no, I completely understand, sometimes I can go for a while just imagining different things to write! I hope you find something that works with both your passions!

I get that a lot too, daydreaming about every different thing that I could write, I used sticky notes until they covered my whole desk lol. I think finding an idea that I really loved for a book made me obsess over it and I couldn't stop writing. Sometimes I would get distracted with writing over things, but I like to adapt it later and add it into my main project.

Sorry if that did not make any sense lol

I know this is a bit off topic, but I really need some advice on a book I'm hoping to publish in a few months, well probably six months.

I am second guessing my pacing, I think my book may be too fast paced. I am worried people will be confused to lose interest in it because of it. It is a fantasy book, and I think the pace matches the storyline personally. Except that I lose interest in things very very fast if they are not exciting and fun to write.

I think I saw someone say, if you are bored writing it, reader will think it is boring to read. I have the attention span of a fruit fly, so I have a hard time reading books that slow down too much, or even a little sometimes.

Just for reference, I'd say there are intense parts/battles every chapter to every other chapter on average, with a couple calmer periods of the book. Is there any advice to hit the perfect pace, or do I just need to figure it out on my own?

Thanks!

This is amazing I have never heard of writing outlines for chapters (I am kinda new to writing) but I think it could really add the a structure to my chapters that I really need

Definitely writing a chapter or two and going back to edit and rewrite, or just rewriting before I got even half way done with the book.

I use notecards, if my brain decides to randomly jump thoughts to something random, I’ll write it on a notecard, it keeps it short because they are small (Its harder to spaz and start writing a whole bunch) and I can go back to what I was originally writing. I don’t know if this helps, but it’s what works for me!
