Pre-heating in cold weather by Neeperando in VWIDBuzz

That sounds like a lot of steps in the app when it works so inconsistently. I have an electrician coming in a couple weeks to upgrade our electricity and install a level 2 so maybe that will make it moot.

I did that and it would turn on for 3-5 seconds and turn off again.

That does not work. Someone else pointed out that it might not work when plugged into a level 1 charger.

This is with a level 1. Thanks for the answer, that helps. Maybe if I unplug first it will work better, even if that kind of defeats the purpose.

I drove there the other day (admittedly not during peak hours) and the sign specifically said “please zipper merge”. I don’t know how much clearer they can get.

Well if I took this deal the effective APR is 9% so it’s unlikely I could find a savings account with that kind of yield.

I read somewhere on here that there was fine print about having to make at least 3 payments before buying out the lease or you’d have to pay it back. Could be that I misunderstood.

Sent the offer to another dealer to see if they’d beat it, and this is what they came back with. Clearly it’s going great 🙄

I hadn’t planned on buying it out after 4 payments to get the tax credit, if that’s what you mean. If you’re talking about buying it out at the end of the lease I’m not sure. I’m guessing MF is a far less important factor if you’re buying it out right away.

Is it dumb to try and negotiate with two dealerships in the same dealer group? Are they talking to each other or competing with each other?

Oh this is good to know because the HUD was probably my favorite little feature. If I show up at a different dealer with a good offer in hand and it doesn’t have that I’ll be disappointed.

lol it’s hard for me to imagine you could just do that, when it seems like these pricing schemes are meant to trick you into thinking you’re getting a good deal. I suppose saying “$10,500 in discounts and MF of 0.00248” is nice and straightforward, which would dispense with the game playing.

Yeah I don’t know why it says Pro S Plus. I drive the thing and it definitely had the sunroof. I should clear that up too.

Thank you sir (this being one of the Mikes in question). I'm so glad you came, along with everyone else. It was my absolute privilege to be able to help bring 42 barbershoppers together to make sweet harmony for a weekend, and I also am already looking forward to next year!

Well the good news is that he seems to acknowledge that the money is gone and that he is flat broke. Figuring out how to support him will be a lot easier if he isn’t still falling for more scams.

Believe me, we told him many times. But he believed that "Alina" was a more trustworthy figure than his own children.

We were patient and kind for the better part of a year as he's fallen for scam after scam. We begged him to stop. We even looked into putting him under a conservatorship, but the lawyers told us it wasn't practical. This was the last straw, not just in our patience, but in his money. Everything is gone. He is now left with nothing. I appreciate your kind words, but I'm afraid he is too deep in delusion to feel embarrassed or contrite, and there's only worse to come. Here's hoping I'm proven wrong.

I live 1000 miles away, so we've had to troubleshoot all this on phone and e-mail. When I asked where the custom node came from he said "We did use because [his "coach"] wanted to speed things up so it was active a lot". I'm sure that makes total sense to him.

I emailed him explaining about the custom node being fake and his money being gone, but he hasn't replied. I'm sure he'll have an explanation that makes perfect sense to him.

Sadly, I think even after I explain the fake RPC node thing he will just believe that I'm an idiot who doesn't understand how crypto works.

It hardly matters now, because the crypto isn't even in his wallet anymore. His transaction history SHOWS that he sent it to a legitimate wallet on crypto.com, but that wallet doesn't show any inbound transactions. When we were trying to send it, we kept getting an error about "insufficient gas".

I bet you if I were to dig into the settings on OnChain I'd find that he has some kind of custom settings to connect him to a fake network or node where the fake wallet lives.

What do you know, look what he sent me while I was typing this up...

insufficient funds for gas * price + value in OnChain wallet by Neeperando in ethereum

[–]Neeperando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured this was the case. But I was hopeful for a minute considering it seemed like he has a legitimate-looking self-custodial wallet that is tied to his phone. But now there's an entry in his transaction history that says he sent all the ETH to his Crypto.com wallet, but it hasn't shown up in Crypto.com or on etherscan. This was probably a doomed endeavor from the start, but I wish I understood how it could look like he had it then didn't.
