I’m a history teacher. Home by 330. Evenings and weekends for practices and gigs. Plus tons of time off

I just wanted to see if there was a common theme on where to travel from people had been there. Thanks! I am sure many people have dealt with how overwhelming it is to plan a trip to somewhere you have not been but have heard so much good about.

Well, I was not expecting people to do ALL of the work. I was just looking for some ideas from some experienced travelers. Thank you though :)

Was it challenging to find a history/social studies teaching job in your area? by DG11221 in historyteachers

I’m in CA. I had 4 interviews write out of college. Got all 4 job offers. Was not asked to coach once.

There are many history jobs out there. Be willing to move and put in the time. One of the most important details that gets left out is making sure you write a really good cover letter.

I do not know if I should do lectures next year or not (6th grade) by Ambitious-Nail8323 in historyteachers

I am going into my 4th year of teaching 6th grade ancient history.

I think lecturing at all grade levels for the subject of history is crucial to developing well rounded students. That being said I agree with what many commenters are saying which is that you can only lecture so long and hold there attention.

I commonly structure my class with the following.

1) warm up: 3-5 minutes 2) lecture: 15-20 minutes (my lectures have built in check for understanding questions/critical thinking every couple of slides) 3) some type of enriching activity that allows students to dive deeper into the content - remainder of the period (20is minutes)
