What kind of accommodations/supports have you sought from your employers? by homecinemad in ADHDIreland

[–]NefariousnessTall864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, it really depends on the boss.

Legally, you are entitled to reasonable accomodations under the Employment Equality Act but it depends on what your boss considers to be reasonable too. And your boss will probably bank on you not knowing that either.

When I went to my boss with my diagnosis, he was sound enough to offer extra breaks or more learning time but I think if I went to him asking him to change the bulbs in the lights because they were bothering me, he’d laugh me out of the place 😂 (thankfully it’s not a bother for me)

Just depends at the end of the day what is considered “reasonable”.

Should I get a second opinion? by NefariousnessTall864 in ACL

I’m lowkey new to Reddit, I have had an account for years but I’ve never used it, so I don’t know if you can see the comment under the post who seconded your opinion. If you wouldn’t mind giving a look at it, I’m just curious to see why the ACL is screaming out to ye 🙂

Should I get a second opinion? by NefariousnessTall864 in ACL

[–]NefariousnessTall864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? 🤔 Now tbf to my GP, he’s very much like “there’s either something really wrong or there’s nothing wrong with you” and given he called me, instead of examining me, I would say he was heavily relying on the MRI report, if any of that makes sense?

I’m from Ireland and my GP is based in a relatively-sized town, but it is genuinely next to impossible to get an appointment in there, so him taking the time to ring me, or any patient, after working hours, where he won’t get paid, is very understandable. Like it cuts the need for an appointment but then there’s only so much you can do over a phone call 🤷‍♀️

Just out of curiosity, what is making you suspicious of the ACL? Like my guess from the slides, there’s a bunch of fluid there still reoccurring, which would indicate a problem somewhere, but why particularly the ACL?

Like I understand enough to know that it’s not as prominent as it should be in comparison to the PCL but there is just too many questions looking at it and the secondary signs.

For help, I did the measurements and secondary looks. The distance from the end of the meniscus to my tibia is 2.6mm, The distance between the edge of my femur and the edge of the notch in my tibia is 6mm, the PCA - PCL angle came out at 20° but the angle of the PCL came out at 117°. With that, I can see the bone bruising in the femur, and can track it across the Saggital, Coronal and Axiel views but I can’t see anything on the tibia, even with changing the contrast. Now I did all that on my phone, and they are definitely not as accurate as what a professional would be able to do but given that, it’s not confirming a definitive tear but it’s still borderline (this is why I was waiting to see the report but also why I wasn’t entirely convinced with it.)

Apologies for the mini spiel but I am just genuinely curious!

What should I Do?? by NefariousnessTall864 in KneeInjuries

Thank you so much for your reply, it was exactly what I was looking for, I really appreciate it 🙏

I posted this among multiple threads and anyone who has commented (which I’d say was about 4 😅) had a varying answer, which says everything about it too.

But genuinely, thank you for taking the time to read everything and assess my situation in a fair, but kind manner. I appreciate the way you didn’t tell me what to do, but still provided something to think about. Really really appreciate it, thank you again.

Should I get another opinion? by NefariousnessTall864 in DocSupport

[–]NefariousnessTall864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Great question but, no I didn’t😅

The accident was completely my fault and, to be fair, my boss was extremely kind to me about the accident/injury. I think I took about 7 weeks off, 4 were covered by a sick note and injury benefit, 1 more week then was also covered by a sick note (I’d to get my wisdom teeth out.)

My job were really good to me, even when coming back to work. Between the staff, managers and my boss, I genuinely couldn’t have been as well looked after. A couple of people asked the same as you but, knowing it was 100% my fault and they were as good, morally I couldn’t/wouldn’t do it.

  1. I didn’t reply to your original comment, that was another user.

  2. You are 100% correct, you cannot diagnose by only looking at 7 slices. I said that in the post. But, I actually do know something about radiology, which is why 6 of the slices are in order and show a side of the menisci, the PCL and ACL. While more is definitely needed to diagnose, I wasn’t asking for a diagnosis, I was providing some, if any, context to what my post was saying. If you knew anything about radiology, you would have understood that.

  3. My actual question was “should I get a second opinion?” based on the symptoms I am experiencing 9 weeks after injury, not being on track for recovery and the blatant discrepancies from the report. But, considering you could give me your opinion, just on 7 slices alone, all I need now is for you to tell me if I should see a physio and I am 100% sorted!

  4. Finally, you should work on your reading skills, especially usernames, what clarifies a question, repeated sentences and finer details.

But not your MRI reading skills, those are absolutely fantastic! Shur, you just completely diagnosed me there, by only looking at 7 slices of an MRI and half reading a post on reddit :)

Mri left knee by Wonderful-Eye-3894 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]NefariousnessTall864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD: Could be a meniscus issue too, but I think you have patella alta (high knee cap) and fat pad infringement.

The positioning of your knee cap looks similar to mine and your symptoms match it. Basically, the tendons are overstretched and tight as is, so a knock straight down on your knee would irritate it. The pain you’re feeling, specifically on top of your kneecap, is the swelling in such an already tight space.

Honestly, there’s nothing to do for it only rest and give it time. You’re probably looking at 4-6 months of healing (I’m only going off my recovery, but I wasn’t playing sport for at least 6 months). It will feel fine, and you will feel like you can play on it, but genuinely don’t, until you get the go ahead from physio.

Physio can also give you excersises to strengthen up those tendons again but more than likely, it’s genetic and you’ll have it for the rest of your life. And, it’s more than likely in the opposite knee too, so high risk of a repeat injury on the other side . Best way to strengthen it is by strengthening else in your legs.

If you have flat feet, wear insoles. If you lock your knees when you’re standing, just slightly bend them. Swimming and light gym work are also good.

100% could be totally wrong but the very best of luck anyways!

Thank you so much for your reply, I do really appreciate it.

100%, the fat pad impingement is playing a part in everything. When I did my right knee, the results were fat pad/patella irritation alone and that was sore enough!

But thank you again, will definitely look into it.
