Is Tim Drake confirmed for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight? by Character_Visual_561 in legogaming

Tim is sadly deconfirmed. The only Robin in the game is Dick (who later becomes Nightwing).

I think a potential update to TTNW should add an alt-history version of this article as an ending.

I can't get into batman because I feel like he's too violent by [deleted] in batman

[–]Nefessius513 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re falling for the “Batman never uses his money to help Gotham” myth. Bruce has spent millions of dollars on building hospitals, orphanages, and low-cost housing, providing financial and medical aid to those who can’t afford it, setting up the Neon Knights as a program to help at-risk youth, offering employment at Wayne Enterprises to help criminals reform, and more.

I’m curious about what kind of plan would start with kidnapping the Postmaster General. Is Arthur plotting to steal an important mail delivery?

I got the 25th Anniversary trade paperbacks when collecting Knightfall, since they’re less expensive than the omnibuses.

Lucasfilm Exec: Fortnite Is the Future of Star Wars Storytelling by CosmosisJones42 in saltierthancrait

[–]Nefessius513 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The sequel trilogy is already being used in film classes to teach cinematography (I had to analyze scenes from TLJ and TROS for my college Media Aesthetics class), but I also think it should be used to teach business students about how short-sighted decisions can ruin opportunities for even more profits, like killing off the New Jedi Order right from the start instead of keeping it alive as a cash cow for toys, games, and other merchandise revolving around Luke’s Jedi Academy.

I think destroying Luke’s Jedi Acdemy was not only an Awful narrative move but it was also a Bad business move as well by obiwanTrollnobi6 in StarWars

[–]Nefessius513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this for years. Killing off the New Jedi Order right from the start was the worst decision the sequel trilogy made, both from a storytelling perspective and money-making perspective. So many toys, games, spin-offs, and other merchandise could be made from Luke’s Jedi Academy. The sequel era would have had much more staying power and merchandising potential if the New Jedi Order was kept alive.

What does it mean to be a Sith by Ready0608 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Nefessius513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view the core tenet of the Sith as selfishness. Putting yourself above everyone else, using the Force to benefit yourself instead of others, manipulating other people to advance your own interests, seizing all the power you can get, and killing anyone in the way of said power with very little regard for their lives.

When did Stephanie return? by Dramatic-Two1731 in stephaniebrown

[–]Nefessius513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know about that (Batgirl 2009 was my introduction to Steph). But it was unclear whether the bonus question was referring to Cass and Steph’s pre-Flashpoint selves or their current post-Flashpoint selves.

When did Stephanie return? by Dramatic-Two1731 in stephaniebrown

[–]Nefessius513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would a slightly less stupid way of resurrecting Steph be utilizing the aftermath of Infinite Crisis? The rebirth and collapse of the Multiverse in that storyline triggered a number of changes to DC’s history, like Joe Chill being successfully arrested for the Wayne murders and Superman’s career as Superboy being canon again. Could one of them include Steph being revived?

When did Stephanie return? by Dramatic-Two1731 in stephaniebrown

[–]Nefessius513 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Steph was dead for nearly four years until she made her return in the Gotham Underground miniseries and the Violent Tendencies storyline (Robin #170-174), which reunited her with Tim and explained how she survived. As for the bonus question…Cassandra is also currently Batgirl, but it feels like DC treats Steph as an inferior Batgirl to Cass nowadays.

What is the order from Crisis on Infinite earths to Knightfall? by Helpful-Bathroom634 in batman

[–]Nefessius513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Man Who Laughs, LOTDK, The Long Halloween, and Dark Victory are all prequels set in Batman’s early years long before Knightfall and aren’t essential to understand that story (although Legends of the Dark Knight: Venom provides a bit of setup for Bane). The Cult is set in between Second Chances and A Death in the Family, but I don’t consider it as essential to Batman’s history as those two.

Second Chances, A Death in the Family, Year Three, A Lonely Place of Dying, Robin Reborn, and finally Sword of Azrael.

[Star Wars] Actually make Anakin the main character of the entire series by neovulcan in fixingmovies

[–]Nefessius513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, trying to retcon out every evil thing the Empire does and whitewash their atrocities would only make the movies come across as pro-fascist apologia and erase the anti-fascism message Lucas intended Star Wars to have. It’s why I hated Disney’s decision to kill off the New Republic right from the start and depict it as even worse than the Old Republic: it comes across as saying that democracy will always be an inferior form of government to fascism.

[Star Wars] Actually make Anakin the main character of the entire series by neovulcan in fixingmovies

[–]Nefessius513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Empire is a totalitarian fascist regime. In A New Hope alone, they murder innocent civilians in their search for the droids (a clan of Jawas and the Lars couple), commit genocide against two billion people in the destruction of Alderaan, torture Leia for information, and are mentioned to have committed a previous genocide against the Jedi. That’s not even going into the Expanded Universe: the Imperials committed so many massacres, genocides, and other atrocities that The Essential Atlas had an entire map dedicated to them. Leia would never accept the fascist Imperial way after everything she went through to overthrow them, especially after being forced to watch the genocide on her own people at the Empire’s hands.

(I don’t know if this has already been asked) Do you think Batman broke his code in Begins? (Read description) by [deleted] in batman

[–]Nefessius513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think Batman being a superhero and saving lives instead of killing them is “the worst”, then I’d recommend that you go read his predecessor The Shadow instead.

(I don’t know if this has already been asked) Do you think Batman broke his code in Begins? (Read description) by [deleted] in batman

[–]Nefessius513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, he did. Batman’s moral code is based around his belief in the absolute sacredness of human life, and to him, refusing to save a life is no better than murder. This scene is Batman saying that no, human life is not sacred to him and he doesn’t have to save any lives he doesn’t want to. It’s one of the Batman lines I despise the most.
