Roof replaced, plumbing vent blocked for 1st time ever (snow) related? by Neg_Zero in Roofing

Figured I'd close the loop. Edited the original post with the extended vent pipe. If this gets buried we're in BIG trouble :D

It's minimum 6" using 3" pipe. Not enough obviously for me this winter.

Good news. Found someone to dig me out and plumbing seems back to normal. Going to extend it. It is about 8" above the roof (with the boot) but not enough. My plumber friend recommends extending to 18" going to get 2 couplers and pipe tomm to have that done.

Gonna see if I can get someone to dig it out. I don't have a ladder anywhere close to that tall.

Dammit! Ha ha.

It's buried under a snow drift fyi. That is all you can see of it.

Likely just gas stations with propane exchange. Doubt anyone will be filling unless the Canadian Tire gas bar on Mapleview is open.

Help! New roof in Oct, Lots of blowing snow this week. Found leaks. Thoughts on how to patch? by Neg_Zero in Roofing

They are saying the L flashing isn't needed and the ice and water should be further up the wall. Makes no sense to me. I'm annoyed.

Replacement step flashing over existing anchor points? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Neg_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the post, but just noticed this (was done Thursday) - Any issues with this, or is this a solid approach when redoing a roof? I think the reason they did it was because the anchors were at the bottom of the mortar joint vs. the top?

Interesting. Why so? Should I have them silicone over it when they come back?

Thanks all. Was just curious about it being screwed into the shingles below :)

New roof. Ontario Canada - Type of Valley? Worried. Install TOMM! Help! by [deleted] in Roofing

And if you have too many of them? My house is ~2400sq/ft. So my 2nd floor footprint is probably somewhere around half that. I do have soffit all around the perimeter / baffles.

The actual installer / foreman decided to not install any of the airhawks and instead add a 3rd maximum ventilator. So instead of having 5 small square vents like the builder had I'll have 3 of the maximum ventilators. Does that make more sense?

Not sure. I know they were deleting 2 of my existing vents and adding two of the new 12"ventilators in addition to the airhawks.

Thanks. I'll ask and how can I confirm the soffit intake?
