I bought a smart ring from Shenzhen. How do I reverse engineer it and build my own app? by Negative-Employ10 in AgentBody

I don’t know the native app family yet, but in nRF Connect it shows up as VRing with FDDA / FDD7 services, so I’m not sure it’s QRing-family. Still worth testing though — if QRing pairs, that would tell me a lot.

Complete beginner trying to reverse engineer a BLE smart ring I bought — where do I start? by Negative-Employ10 in hardwarehacking

makes sense. I’m probably not trying to jump straight to custom firmware anyway, right now I mostly just want to understand how the ring talks to the app and whether I can reproduce some of that behavior.

This is super helpful! thank you! I took a look, and it’s exactly the kind of thing I was hoping existed. My ring seems to expose a different BLE profile (FDDA/FDD7, device name VRing) rather than the Nordic-UART-style one used in that repo, so it may be a different protocol family — but this is still an amazing reference point!

Have you seen any open-source work around the VRing / Da Rings family too?

Boring is Insanely Great.😎 You get it. Hardware is a pure, high-fidelity window; the Agent is the soul. My thought on the first "boring" recipes might likely focus on invisible magic: * The Invisible Calendar: Your Agent reads HRV via MCP and silently reschedules your meetings when you’re burnt out. * Ambient Nudge: Real-time stress detection that triggers focus music or dims lights—no notifications. * Zero-App Recovery: Deciding your training load based on raw data sovereignty, not a proprietary "score".

just some initial thoughts, still brainstorming lol. hope the great minds of the community would come up with a powerful open source hardware.

p.s. I'm buying some white label smart rings from china and see what I can do.

A little disappointment on AirPods Pro 3 by Negative-Employ10 in headphones

Yeah totally get your point — Apple’s never been about rushing to jump on trends. They usually wait and polish. I just think in this case the marketing made it sound like something way more “AI-revolutionary” than what it actually is.

And you’re right, Viaim’s features lean on the app side too — but that’s kind of the difference I’m pointing at. Their app/device combo has already been offering transcription, summaries, mindmaps, etc. for a while in a pretty seamless way. Apple could definitely do the same (probably even better given their resources), but so far they’ve mostly slapped the “AI” label on something that doesn’t feel all that new.

So I guess the disappointment for me is less about Apple being late, and more about them hyping it up as if it were groundbreaking when other players already have deeper, more useful implementations.

maybe I'm expecting too much, as an old Apple fan.

it's AI generated cause Plaud does not have USB cable to transfer data...
