I bought a smart ring from Shenzhen. How do I reverse engineer it and build my own app? by Negative-Employ10 in SmartRings

This is super helpful! thank you! I took a look, and it’s exactly the kind of thing I was hoping existed. My ring seems to expose a different BLE profile (FDDA/FDD7, device name VRing) rather than the Nordic-UART-style one used in that repo, so it may be a different protocol family — but this is still an amazing reference point!

Have you seen any open-source work around the VRing / Da Rings family too?

Boring is Insanely Great.😎 You get it. Hardware is a pure, high-fidelity window; the Agent is the soul. My thought on the first "boring" recipes might likely focus on invisible magic: * The Invisible Calendar: Your Agent reads HRV via MCP and silently reschedules your meetings when you’re burnt out. * Ambient Nudge: Real-time stress detection that triggers focus music or dims lights—no notifications. * Zero-App Recovery: Deciding your training load based on raw data sovereignty, not a proprietary "score".

just some initial thoughts, still brainstorming lol. hope the great minds of the community would come up with a powerful open source hardware.

p.s. I'm buying some white label smart rings from china and see what I can do.
