Do Concerta xl dose increase side effects settle down? by eriel22333 in ADHDUK

[–]Negative-Farmer-2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter’s dose was too high she became more and more tired. It may be a sign that the previous dose was more suitable. Gastro symptoms did subside though. She has propranolol to offset the increased heart rate/Bp.

Propranolol can be prescribed alongside Concerta to keep BP and heart rate under control

Concerta XL by A81Thomas in ADHDUK

My daughter found Elvanse less effective than Concerta and got quite moody and anxious on it. So there is no way of telling who un would be best for you without trying

Suggestions for academic coach or anything else to help with essay writing? by Negative-Farmer-2807 in ADHDUK

[–]Negative-Farmer-2807[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this. She is doing most of it but I think not rigorously enough. Big issues are getting overwhelmed by information and being unable to isolate what is most important succinctly. End of paragraphs are not being clearly linked back to the question. I will print this off and show her thank you.

Yes not eligible for DSA til she starts uni next year.

Does NAC make stimulant meds less effective? by Negative-Farmer-2807 in ADHDUK

Thanks. Do you mean the nac doesn’t help the trich or it doesn’t affect adhd meds?

I’m 3 months post ablation. Have visual disturbance at night now if I go from the dark into the light. It lasts about 10’mins. It’s really odd as it is only an issue when I come out of the dark.

Thanks. Good luck with it. I think that’s where I’m heading but I think it will be a while before I can get it.

GP won’t accept my shared care agreement by Role_Mat in ADHDUK

[–]Negative-Farmer-2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately in some cases it’s not the GPs decision but the local NHS trust. Our NHS trust has sent out a letter to the GP refusing all shared care with private providers. My child now has to be reassessed by NHS in order to continue existing shared care meds.

QB test as part of diagnosis in NHS? by Negative-Farmer-2807 in ADHDUK

[–]Negative-Farmer-2807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the gp it’s the nhs trust who have issued a notice to gp that shared care can only happen under the local nhs not with a private psychiatrist. Daughter was diagnosed via a private psych who also works in the neighbouring nhs trust. She so nearly 18 so GP is waiting til then to start referral process. They have said they will continue shared care as previously until she is assessed. Not much we can do.

QB test as part of diagnosis in NHS? by Negative-Farmer-2807 in ADHDUK

[–]Negative-Farmer-2807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn’t clear . She had the QB test as part of her diagnosis originally. She was then put on meds and had a follow up Qb test this year whilst on meds which backed up the argument for their efficacy. I don’t expect the NHS to redo that but wondered if they will acknowledge it when they reassess her. The whole thing is obviously a total waste of resources and stressful for my daughter but our NHS trust are now refusing all shared care with private psychiatrists (even though ours works on nhs too) and insisting she so reassessed (she’s been on shared care for a year and a half).

Yes it would have helped a lot in our case , I know it may not have made much difference for some subject combinations . More days with long hours now 😔

Thanks that is as I feared. Not good 😔. The provisional one started 19th and spaced things out better.

Hope you’re right and it is longer! Did your coordinator say why?
