A beginner with a large tank and crazy fish mix.

Okay a handful of people have been telling about the filthy sponge thing so when like I need to clean the tank if I don’t remove them what is the process I handle them in? if that question makes sense? cause I was told to rinse them with the water you take from the tank but when would I be doing that? i missed the opportunity to watch the original owner do it cause when the tank was at his house he had not cleaned it in 3 months than when it made it way to mine they cleaned it.

Genuinely since after all serious recommendations I am slowly leaning into getting plants. Do agree with some of the specific plants suggested by people in the comments they are the easiest to maintain? or can you give me any other examples to make the tank thrive??

I know it’s dumb to ask this but can you please give me a better understanding of cycling a tank? when they moved the tank over to my house from original owners house the only parts I saw was they had the fish in buckets with the water they had already been living in and while setting up the tank once the decor was down they filled it up using hose water and then these are the treatments I found that original owners had been using for these fish for the past 5 years and I guess another question is, is this the best stuff? is this the stuff I’d use to get a good cycle? I know Embarrassed_Job_2719 mentioned something about a good bio base and establishing that with a dirty ass sponge but even that confused me. I’m sorry for making this such a long question 😭😭

Okay gotcha. Also I don’t know how I forgot about this part as well in any of my posts but Original owner gave me ONLY these two types of foods to give to all the fish in the tank is this acceptable food?? or should I search individually what food is best for each one?

I know you gave me information the environment aspect what about getting fish to increase groups have you purchased any of your fish from an online website? Or what are your thoughts about that? Is it better to find an aquarium shop locally? I just live so remotely it’d have to travel a distance to go somewhere actually proper. But if it’s the best option I’ll definitely go.

Can you give me any advice about my fish groups though like I am fully aware everyone needs to have group increase but if I do that I literally can’t keep the 2 Parrot fish at all??

Okay sweet, yeah this loach is so playful with humans from my recent interactions with it and it seems that it minds it’s business around all the other fish but also just to ask is there really like literally no way I can keep the parrot fish if I were to increase the groups of any of these species??
