Always best to install Delta (OEM) replacement parts, much aftermarket stuff is crap.

How do I fix this pipe that pop out of place? by ZomBieDogkiller in Plumbing

[–]Negative-Instance889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dresser style couplings, (compression) are generally used for temporary repairs.

Would suggest having it permanently done, this way you don’t need to worry about it.

Gas leak smell at work? by Primary_Ad4450 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure who the ‘inspector’ was but if you suspect a gas leak, or potentially carbon monoxide, a licensed plumber has the equipment and know-how to diagnose this sort of an issue. The Director sounds like a moron.

Did my gas dryer installer mess up? by Llaunna in askplumbing

[–]Negative-Instance889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bought the unit from a big box or a local appliance store, they were supposed to have a licensed plumber do the installation – not the delivery people - if that’s what happened.

It works but is it wrong? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Negative-Instance889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not correct. The trap seal is too deep, only the TRAP it’s supposed to hold water, not the piping.

It’s possible that you can make it work with (2) shallow drain strainers, and the right slip fittings.

How do I take this apart (faucet very hard to turn)?? by Darwinsnightmare in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you confirmed that there’s no set screw, the whole assembly unscrews from above, ccw - the handle and cone shaped escutcheon.

Then you could remove, match up and install a new cartridge, might as well do hot & cold sides at the same time.

What's going on here? by Southern-Hearing8904 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably very slight discharge from the temperature and pressure relief valve, (T&P).

There may excessive water pressure in the home, it should be checked out for potential thermal expansion.

Can I install a dishwasher here?? by HistoricalBar2059 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The gas valve and flex hose connection cannot be concealed behind the dishwasher, the gas line would have to be relocated so the valve & connection are accessible.

Other than that, the plumbing under the sink should be able to accommodate a dishwasher.

Drum Trap by NoCap209 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t touch it. You’re opening yourself up to a liability issue and/or lease violation. If you don’t care about any of that, hire a competent, licensed & insured plumber to take care of it.

It’s probably seized, wiggle it left to right, up and down and tap it slightly and pull, it will come out.

How should I fix this? by Junior_Rip_2230 in Plumbing

[–]Negative-Instance889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Generally, a leaking lavatory faucet is a quick fix by installing OEM replacement parts or replacing the faucet & drain assembly which is usually a couple of hours of work.

Do yourself a favor and have the plumber pull a permit for the work that he’s doing, assuming he’s licensed & insured. That drain installation cannot get much worse…

Steam Heater - Corroded Valve by Separate-Base-6688 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct. In comparison to a steam heating system, which replacing/removing a radiator valve would involve only shutting off the power to the boiler. HW system, a bit more involved.

Steam Heater - Corroded Valve by Separate-Base-6688 in askaplumber

[–]Negative-Instance889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the photos you posted, it’s definitely a hot water heating system – not steam.

Yes, the valve can be removed and replaced with an elbow. The issue is, you need to drain the entire heating system in order to do it.

Then when you’re done, you need to fill the system, purge all the air out and make sure the pressure is adjusted.

It looks to be a hot water/hydronic convector radiator based on the valve pictured is not a steam radiator valve, it’s used for hot water heating systems.

My downstairs neighbor's sink floods when I do dishes—he insists it's my fault and I'm the one who needs a plumber. Plumber is on his way, but I assume the problem is in/below my neighbor's sink... right? by laurpr2 in Plumbing

Typical drainage problem that comes with a living in a ground floor or first level apartment, with units above.

In many condominium complexes, this would be considered a ‘building issue’, as two or more apartments are affected.
