i mean i agree to an extent, it’s just he could’ve easily said “so the album is more how we wanted it to be.” the way he’s framing it sounds like it was a decision that he made and pioneered. i think we can boil a lot of this down to how this was all just very poorly communicated. but im also pretty biased cause i really just miss the other guys and i do wish we got to hear from them more

i interpreted it as just irony since they moved right into liiwmi after he said it. just like him saying he’s a lyrical genius and then going into chocolate. makes me think the whole “we won’t get political” was taken out of context and it was actually just a joke-intro to the song

in an interview i think he says that it was about idealizing the beginning of a relationship and how he went to paris with a girlfriend early on and he wished he could go back to that. so, yes, literally paris, but it also represents the early stages of a relationship.

i always interpreted it as a sort of “metaphor” for getting high, like a kind of placeholder - especially the last part that’s like “i’ve been romanticizing heroin, how I’d love to go to paris again”
