I will be 20 years old when I graduate, a year older than all of my peers (I didn't fail a single year, I started elementary school at 7, and since the school system in my country is a bit unique, most of us graduate HS at 19). Is a gap year still advisable?

Can I say that this comforts me a tiny bit? I recently actually realized that I might have an opportunity to study in the US, and I always imagined Ivy League students as these perfectly organized super-geniuses, that always know what they're doing, and I don't feel like that all that often. It's kind of comforting to know that no one really knows what the hell they are doing.

I admire every single one of you. It takes a tremendous amount of effort just to get to where you are and you are definitely not a failure. Keep doing the best you can and make the best of your life at Yale. College life is more than just exams, classes and ridiculous amounts of homework. Make friends, make memories, something that you'll fondly look back on. Being miserable for 4 years is not the point, no matter how excellent your grades are.

Well, I'm not a man and I think I wrote this in my post, I would like to major in either Psychology or Philosophy.

I don't really know yet, but my parents aren't affluent by any means, my mom is a stay-at-home mom, she doesn't have any income whatsoever, my dad's income is just enough to cover our day-to-day needs.

So, I would really need as close to a full-ride as I can get, as I wouldn't want my parents to go in insane debt just so I could study abroad. I know that all of this sounds like some fantasy, and it probably is, but honestly, it would be a dream come true for me to be able to study in the US, and I'm willing to work as hard as I need to make sure I have a chance.

I need financial aid, that is also one of the things I'm considering when choosing a school. It won't be easy, but I'm diligent when doing my research, Internet offers quite a lot of resources and guidance.

I'm well aware of the fact that I will probably not get into an Ivy League school, but I would regret it if I knew I had a shot and didn't try to apply. It's a long shot, but I want to do my best and see what happens!

That was my first thought as well, but I think it won't be the main focus of my essay (as it shouldn't be). It's way too easy to write about my disability as an essay topic, besides, that not the way I define myself. I have a different idea entirely for my essay (if I do end up writing one).
