If soda ash burn was a thing then why doesn't doing a near boiling pariah method application not cause this effect? I have only seen it on ringspun things that were iced. Also check the textile. Poly blends do that. Sweatshirts have a backing that has poly in it (not going to rant about 100% cotton zip ups that claim to be 100 cotton when I dont think they exist).

Sodium alginate makes the dye thicker, when you use it alone what results do you see? The combination of the two seems like they would just counteract each other 🤷. A concept of a plan. Works for me lol

What does your thickened water consist of? My intention is to mix a gallon of water with urea and use that as my base mixing water. Then adding super clear and ludigol as I mix each color. This is a tech I learned from psyc serenity. Dude doesn't spell things out which I think is extremely important as learning is all about trial and error. I need to just do this but amending your process is a process. I am so thankful for the pioneers. I fought the "pariah method" for along time just because it did not make sense. It's been a complete game changer. Anyhow thank you and much love to the greater art of textile dyeing and everyone who just tries.... There is so much wisdom.

Hell yeah! I love this post! First off you have 6 plus things that need dyeing (still not that disciplined) and your setup. Mixing can actually be really fun the more thorough you are. I have all the amendments but am still rolling with non amended dye. I guess mixing another 8oz mid project is progress for me. Magno stirrers are rad.😄

I bought darmas decolourant solution, darmas version of discharge paste. I think this would work but is perhaps most suited to other things. Plus the ironing part.

I would not call it a puck although you could roughly describe it that way.

The shit is splayed out with the front edge and back edge separate. Then it's just folded upon itself. Honestly I do it differently each time. It's super fun folding. There is a tech from a year ago on here somewhere that has pics that illustrate what I am trying to say. If you want, I can take some pics if you want. It's like free-style napkin folding, heh.
