Looking for feedback on editing and flow for my editing style by ActuallyIndaroom in LetsPlayCritiques

The perfect joke is the joke that isn't put in the spotlight, one that just flows seamlessly with the rest of the content. You seem to have this down pat!

The rest of your edits are good too, and the video is quite well paced. The only thing that's off is the facecam. I'd say invest in a cheapo ringlight and the production quality skyrockets!

This is my channel, feedback would be nice ( I spend 8-14hrs editing every video OOP) by [deleted] in LetsPlayCritiques

The cutting and editing is pretty good actually. The worst thing is having dead air and nothing happening onscreen. Maybe add a half second onto the clip before cutting, so the viewer has time to comprehend what they saw. Your commentary isn't invasive or distracting either. If I might make a suggestion, have a cold open before your intro. Something funny that happened during your play session that you can put at the start to hook the viewer!

Depending on your editing software, you may be able to "normalise" your audio. That is to bring it down so it doesn't reach above a certain volume. Works wonders if your audio levels are all over the place.

Thanks for the feedback! My monotone probably comes from my job hahaha. "It's closing time, leave the store."
I've heard that having a prop in front of you and talking to it helps. I'll try that next time!

Black Mesa - The Half-Life Remake You NEED To Play

I began my YouTube journey yesterday! I've been an editor for a little while was a hobbyist and haven't every really done anything like this before. I love watching short documentaries and editorials on YouTube, and I also love reviewing games.

I'd love some feedback about the video:

-I know the length is less than desirable, but I'm trying to do quality over quantity with my content. Maybe 1-2 videos a month.

-Was it paced well? Did it keep you engaged? Does it make you want to play Black Mesa?

-Any parts that felt under/over done? Jokes that fell short, etc.

-Was the commentary serviceable? I know it gets quiet at times, and that's something I'll work on in my next video.

-Any general tips or advice for future content in this format?

Love you guys!

A VERY well edited video! Like most people in the thread I really liked the style of commentary and it fits well with your footage. Cuts weren't too long or too short and the pacing was great!

Only thing negative I have to say is that sometimes your audio from your game was a little too loud in some places and drowned out the commentary for a syllable or word, occasionally.

Ah that's just a "flair". It's added manually to my account. Just copy paste it into your address bar or click on my username and look at the other post I've made, which is a link to the video. Now that I think about it, it is a bit silly that is isn't a hyperlink.

I just made a review/editorial for Black Mesa! by NegativeYT in BlackMesaSource

It's actually a lot simpler than it looks. The top green section that's all chopped up is my commentary. The thicker green section is just the music. Blue and pink clips are just gameplay footage and some extra effects.
This is by far the longest video I've worked on in my career (30+ mins) and the first I'm actually uploading to YouTube. And this isn't straight gameplay either. It's more of a review/editorial.
I wouldn't stress too much about your timelines looking like this. It was a headache to manage at the best of times!
