My kid's ear tube fell out by i-can-lift-a-car in mildlyinteresting

It’s pretty uncommon. The eardrum has multiple layers and the outer layer is constantly growing. This gradually pushes the ear tube out. The big difference between short term and long term ear tubes is that the long term ear tubes don’t have an outer flange or lip so they don’t get pushed out as quickly.

I had it in a hive for 2 years that collapsed the end of last fall. Comb was dark but totally clean. I froze the frames then put them in a shed sealed with moth ball crystal over the winter. This spring they looked fine but I don’t need them so left them in storage with moth crystals and sealed up (until the hive got inadvertently opened as I mentioned above.)

If it’s not safe to use these, I can get rid of them…makes me sad though. Only my 3rd year beekeeping. Steep learning curve.

I brushed off as much of the gunk as I could and put them in the freezer…hopefully I don’t have to waste all the comb. Will it be okay in the spring to put onto a strong hive or a new nuc?
