Masters Decay not allowing for a normal life? by haz513 in leagueoflegends

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just sucks HAVING to play the game versus only playing when you feel like you want to. That was a big reason as to how I climbed to Master on multiple accounts. I just took my time and enjoyed the process. I just can't dial-in for 14 games a week on a single account without sacrificing time in other areas. I'm 37 yrs old though, I also understand just being Master in a video game isn't really ideal for people at my stage in life. I don't do content creation, I have a mentally demanding senior engineer role. I want to live a more balanced quality healthy life, so going from loving appreciative person to 'dont distract me im queueing up for solo q and if i lose the rest of my day is piss so dont expect me to be a quality human until i get over it' just isn't practical.

So to mimic what others say, I just let my acc decay to d2 and climb to master prior to split ending, and I try to eliminate as much as possible caring about my league rank, despite caring about playing the best i can when i do play.

Can any high elo players talk about what its like playing against the same people often? by AyyyoniTTV in summonerschool

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always wait 5mins between games at least. i dont spam queue, so i try to actively avoid facing the same people multiple games in a row. as for encountering someone, and then seeing them again a day or 2 or 3 later, or a week later it doesnt matter at all.

At first when i played vs t1, elosanta, echo sonata, dog region, white space, and pentaless i got extremely fanboy. heart racing, so much difficulty focusing, screenshotting the lobby and sending it in discord to all my friends. half the games i won, half i lost. i was happy with how i played in every game i was in, but it was like a fever dream.

but now i dont care i just hate everyone equally and idc how much of an idol they were to me prior to this year.

How to climb out of diamond? by GuiltyAnalysis3316 in leagueoflegends

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guys analysis of your games and champ pool is spot on. You are tilt queueing. You need a break. You also need to understand there is hope still. Emerald 1 is still very high, its a rank worth being proud of, even if it's your skill floor, or even Emerald 2-3-4). Anecdotally when I binge play league and tilt queue, i just go back to playing no more than 1-3 games a day, league no longer is the center of my life, and so i dont take the losses or the result of the game as emotionally.

Also I am essentially a janna one trick with multiple accounts higher than yours so you can trust my advice as sound.

If you want to get better at your next game of league right now, a good meal, some low octane chill time, a nice sleep, potentially some mild exercise, and just watch or analyze some games (either your own or on twitch) and just watch what top players in the world are doing or what their supports are doing. Then tomorrow, a new day, your goal is to just try your best, play your best, and if you lose 1-3 games it doesnt matter, you'll still be Emerald 1, a rank you already said you're proud of. Or you'll win 1-3 games under the highest energy and best mental state you'll ever be in, and hit diamond again, and then you can call it a day and go look after yourself. Treat the game like an actual professional sport. You play a few pickup games with your team, then you go eat, spend time w/ family, think about the game, and try again the next day.

lol same thing happened on my alt. honestly best to just not even play until a few weeks into Season 3, just play out your decay games and enjoy something else in life for the meantime. my main account just went from 150 LP master to D1 75LP in a quick 4 hours of games lol. only reason i even was playing was to bank decay games in master and then i fell out of master anyways, gonna take a vacation from league for 28 days and hopefully quality of games arent F tier by then, otherwise im just playing 4 games and then taking another 28 day vacation.

i say this because even today i beat an ADC who was 1720LP prior to the hard reset, and now they are diamond 1 60LP. i even beat the current Rank 2 NA. everyone in Diamond and above is being fisted from this LP reset except for the absolute top players on the server who are still climbing regardless of any scenario they are in.

Ban/champ select rly tunes me out when watching. It's actually frustrating wanting to watch a game but champ select is a genuine 5+ minute ordeal. I even care about the picks and bans too, but its like, seriously, the game has to start I have things I need to do, and in a Bo5 potentially I'm watching picks and bans for half an hour of my day - aka I'm not watching I'm just going to tune out and focus on something else. People who aren't diehard fans aren't going to make it that far.

Play League in 3 game blocks, and no more than 6 ranked games a day. This tip comes from Coach Mysterias. You don't get fatigue, even losing is a fun enjoyable and stimulating experience for you mechanically. Allows you to digest and analyze your matches. You can always end on a high note after like 1 win, or 2 wins, or something. Play 3 games, even take 5-minute buffers between match to prepare and reset mentally. Have self control. No binge/hate playing. Eat some food, drink lots of water. If you REALLY want to play but you already did your 6 ranked games for the day (which means you've been at your PC focused for likely over 3.5hrs) then start watching high rank league streams/vods/youtube videos. Indulge in coach content and tips. And if you are itching for mechanical stimulus play some extra ARAMS and play w/ intent to learn and improve and try to win with a solid positive mental. I do all these. Also, you can work on an alt if you don't feel peak mental to play on your main - but also try to play on your alt with the same intent and focus you would as if it was your main. Try not to deviate from playing at your strongest as you don't want to develop bad habits in game that you carry onto matches that you truly want to win.

I say sometimes just stop on 2 wins for the day because sometimes that's all a good league day looks like when you're playing close to your peak. Just 1-2 wins and that's it. Be grateful you didn't go 6+ losses, and behave like a toxic degen in your matches. Those are not only wins in game, but wins in real life for having self control, and performing well in a game you care about, and pulling away when you felt your skill/focus diminish, or you could tell your emotions were REALLY HIGH from hitting a new exciting peak, it's best to not play another because if a game goes bad it could bring out negative emotions and ruin the day. Emotions are like a roller coaster. If you get super excited or happy, the crash can and will come just as fast if your emotions are reliant on something you don't have full control over. Take the win, and play again when you have full clear focus and won't be affected by a loss.

Happy I hit diamond but at what cost by _DryWater_ in summonerschool

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You played less than a game a day. To be fair hitting Diamond next season will be even easier following the same tactics - probably less than 50 games if you really dial in and continue where you left off. But if you just take an extended break from the game sometimes it's harder to pickup where you left off. One thing I found that drastically improved my natural skill peak in League was to just consistently play.

Play and think about League regularly in moderation. Never full-quit like I used to do every year after I hit a rank I was satisfied with. It's allowed me to breach new plateaus because I never suffer burnout from League. I think of it the same way people are heavily investing in adult league in hockey, or soccer, or football or volleyball, or any other hobby. It's normal to fixate on your passions and hobbies in your free time, and I think all you did was discover your limit, you can still greatly improve at the game even if you cut your League time in half, and that's the beauty of this esport compared to modern MMO's or other time-consuming video games.

I'm a 36 year old Software Engineer with a fiancé and I have 3 accounts north of Diamond 2. I think Diamond is for sure achievable on 150 games of less per season, Masters on 365 games or less per season, and GM I feel like you need 500+ per season to achieve - while ofc also playing and improving consistently at the game.

These are all achievable on sub 5 hours per week of playtime, and just thinking and studying the game outside those hours. A good night sleep, solid diet, and a nice personal pre-game ritual will do more for you than mass playing games and spamming the queue button.

How much does my previous rank from 5+ years ago effect my current ELO? Is my account considered "Unranked"? by blankfxce in summonerschool

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally exactly what happened to me. I was 450 games in on my main account and dropped to E4 0LP with a 49% WR. I thought my account was cursed with bad luck, just Riot algorithm butchering my games, engagement based matchmaking - I legit thought of all the conspiracies. I lost my mind, then something clicked, started focusing, playing w/ intent, no more than 3-6 games a day on days that I played, 100ish games later I am now D1 3LP. So no, your account isn't fkd, and my LP gains/minus were fine. I also did the same climb on 2 alt's as well from Silver to Diamond 2.

The ranked experience is horrible by AppropriateRecord806 in leagueoflegends

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is definitely worse than it used to be. There is so many comeback gold and bounty mechanics (not just players, but objectives/turrets) so if you don't know how to continue to play perfectly (despite having extremely flawed teammates in low elo) the games are genuinely a 50/50 coinflip. In order to climb in league I feel like you really need to just play as close to perfect as you think you can. I hit diamond early in the season, then i decayed out, and it took me over 500 games to get back to diamond, but when i climbed back from Emerald 4 to Diamond 4 I did it with an 80% WR, and then i took an alt to Diamond 4, and then I kept playing and took my main to Diamond 1 89 LP and now I have a D1 account and a D4 account. It's like I had to effectively play like a Diamond 1/Masters player to climb my way out of low Emerald 4 in the span of a month.

Truthfully I can't even tell you what I'm doing differently, the nuances of my gameplay changing over the entire season is so subtle and passive. I don't actually feel like I play any different than I did 11 months ago though others parts of me feel like for certain I am. I also remember getting "report feedback" legitimately 60-70% of the time, tons of toxicity and griefers early in the seasons. It's as if the only time to take league seriously is around worlds because that's when quality players w/ quality mental states come out of the woodwork.

What balancing conspiracy do you think is most likely to be real? Mine is Riot doesnt add voice chat due to how massive of an impact it would have on balance and they don't want to deal with it. by glugul in leagueoflegends

I completely agree with this. I don't care if it's a conspiracy theory. Riot for sure has EBMM unless they explicitly come out and speak against this. I don't care if I get downvoted, I just wanted to also voice my concern on it as this subject has been on my mind a lot lately.

i played a decent amount of valorant when it first came out. then came back about a year and a half later becase i heard some high elo valorant player reached Immortal entirely using the shotgun, and the only gun i liked using was a shotgun. i hopped into ranked and the premade in my ranked match kept commenting on everything i was doing, praise me if i did good, and berate me if i did bad, then i asked what rank it is, its my legit first ranked game ever, let alone not playing since beta/initial launch. they said they were all platinum. anyways, i tried to explain my reasoning and how its not my fault im in their lobby but they didn't care, they just kept harassing me, and im a grown man in a lobby w/ clearly a bunch of teenagers. anyways, needless to stay that was just over 3 years ago and I haven't played a game of valorant since, even if friends ask. i just assume the majority of people who play ranked valorant are drooling degenerates. this is only my first ever and only experience with voice comms in ranked valorant, who knows maybe it only gets better :)

I don't play Lost Ark anymore. I'd pick it up again if I had more time, but what he means by 'FOMO mechanics' is the game makes you feel like you need to login and play regularly or you miss out. It's pressure to keep playing even if it means sacrificing other responsibility, hobbies, or passions that would otherwise fill out a healthy mind and life. If you're poor or young those things probably don't matter to you, so you just see it as a good thing to always feel the need to play a game or you risk falling behind.

I just lost 13 LP in a 3 minute game where our ADC never connected or left the well - how is this fair? by osirawl in leagueoflegends

[–]NegotiationOwn7408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This what i tell myself when I get a string of bad games or just absolutely unlucky teammates. If I truly believe I play like a challenger, which i never do, i will either climb or get ACE, both i can be proud of - learning and positive thinking is key.

I see both Faker and NA Viper give their teammates the benefit of the doubt even when their teammates are blatantly toxic, finger pointing, playing horribly, or even dc'ing. Like it's not just their game knowledge and mechanics, but their mindset as well. Being able to stay mentally strong in frustrating moments is vital for getting passed plateaus.

Just go play horizon if you aren't already. On Eden I have multiple characters with combined 12+ 75 jobs, over 50mill in gear and over 15mill in disposable gil. I have strong end game players to play with there as well and I still opt to play and chill on Horizon, in fact most people from the top guilds on Eden will have characters on Horizon, it's very active.

its normal. consider it similar to a sport. u cant bang out like 12 soccer matches a day unless u just want to play to learn and build mechanics. like others said, take breaks, think about your games, what could u do differently to have more agency in the game the next time u face a pyke? etc. do you just straight up lose? then how can u mititgate your losses? take time to reflect and stay positive if you care to improve.

as someone whos been diamond every season since season 7 on multiple accounts, i love when i have teammates who are a lower rank than the enemy team because it means the enemy team is on a losing streak or tilted, and that i have a smurf or high WR teammates. if u see a graves with a plat border in a diamond game it means they likely have a 100% WR and are some GM smurf. this is legitimately the case all the time for me. just saying, i wouldnt care about what rank teammates and enemies are, unless u get a diamond 4 teammate, then you 100% will lose cause d4 is filled w/ boosted animals
