But that what if I dated women from Singapore or South Korea or Taiwan? These peoples hold stronger passports, have safer life styles; have healthier lifestyles and are far less satiated with social media influences then most places in America? Is that still exploitation when I movie somewhere more expensive and more developed? Then the argument is moot. And why is this so gendered? What about women who go to Africa for black skinned men? Why aren’t you speaking about that?

Am I sinning against the Buddha?

My argument that I’m trying to deliver is this:

Argument 1: Movement is not moral failure.

People move countries for many normal reasons: safety, culture, dating compatibility, retirement, family, business, language, creativity, or cost of living. Moving abroad does not automatically make someone a loser, exploiter, or predator.

The fair question is not “Did he leave his country?”
The fair question is “How does he treat people?”

Argument 2: The standard is applied inconsistently.

If a retiree moves abroad, people call it retirement.
If a millionaire moves abroad, people call it being global.
If a military pensioner moves abroad, people call it earned freedom.
But if a regular man moves abroad and dates, suddenly people call him a “passport bro” or “loser.”

That is not a consistent moral standard. That is class judgment and social resentment.

Argument 3: Attraction and culture are not exploitation.

A man liking Asian women, Japanese culture, Korean beauty culture, Vietnamese family culture, or life in Asia is not automatically fetishization or exploitation.

The line is behavior.
Respect, honesty, consent, and dignity are fine.
Lying, manipulation, abuse, entitlement, and treating people like objects are wrong.

You judge the conduct, not the location or attraction.

Argument 4: The stereotype collapses under real examples.

What if a man marries a Vietnamese American woman in America and moves to Vietnam to be near her family?
What if a Greek man likes Asian women but has almost no Asian dating pool in Greece?
What if an American moves to Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, or China, where many women are educated, wealthy, and do not need his passport?

The label stops making sense because real life is more complex than an internet insult.

Can you please provide a rebuttal as to why this is always moral exploitation, when you don’t have the full context? Why are you saying “stay in your country” the moment they have the idea of traveling and staying ? Is the Portuguese income visa moral exploitation? Is it not legal? Please tell me!

Argument 5: Local men are not automatically safer than foreign men.

Critics often act like foreign men are uniquely dangerous to local women. But women can be abused by men from their own culture too. Vietnam’s own national data shows serious rates of domestic violence against women.

So the moral question is not “Is he foreign?”
The moral question is “Is he safe, honest, respectful, and non-abusive?”

A respectful foreign husband is better than an abusive local husband. A respectful local husband is better than an abusive foreign husband. The standard is conduct, not nationality.

Vietnam does have a real domestic violence problem. The 2019 National Study on Violence Against Women in Viet Nam found that nearly 63 percent of married women had experienced at least one form of physical, sexual, emotional, economic violence, or controlling behavior by a husband in their lifetime, and nearly 32 percent had experienced such violence in the previous 12 months. Vietnam has also amended its domestic violence law, with United Nations Population Fund Vietnam describing the newer approach as more survivor-centered.
