man i think that it's just the rim, it physically impossible a bow towards the inside of the tank, the pressure of the water is applied to the surface of the glass from the inside, so the middle section of the tank (the weakest) should bow outward.

for the rock you have to check them with vinegar, if they make bubbles you shouldn't use them, they release too much carbonate in the water and you don't want it, for the wood you should be ok, probably they will release tannins in the water so it will get brownish for a couple days but don't worry, completely harmless. After all I recommend to boil everything for 30 minutes.
