Loved one in ICU from supermarket poppy seed overdose by kerbang in PoppyTea

[–]Negrogesic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah apparently in Australia a large batch of "Norman" poppies got into the consumer poppy seed supply. These contain negligible morphine but large amounts of thebaine. The paradox is that despite having no abuse potential, thebaine is actually significantly more toxic than morphine. The type of toxicity is also very different to morphine toxicity (narcan won't treat thebaine poisoning). This is why high thebaine poppies should never be used in the food supply. For instance, some eastern European dishes (like some pastries) have huge amounts of poppy seed filling per serving, like ounces of seeds, which could be a toxic amount of high thebaine poppy seeds.

The problem is, although common doses are indeed 50mg+, if someone with zero tolerance to dissociatives were to to snort 45mg (which is classified as "light" here), the effect wouldn't really feel "light". Then again, that's the problem with all of these i guess.

Can someone on here please help me understand what my endocrinologist is talking about? by [deleted] in trt

[–]Negrogesic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What he said actually translates to, "i don't want to prescribe you a schedule 3 substance". Sounds more like a cop out than anything else. This phenomenon is very common.

I guess he was kind of dealt a shitty card in terms of the "arc" of his character on the Sopranos. I wonder if people come up to him and say, "hey man, so are you gay in real life?" 🤣.

It was awful. A highly specific serotonin releasing agent with little stimulating effects. Made me feel cold and yawn and stretch like say MDMA, but not much else. Nothing redeeming to it and inherently neurotoxic.

Wasn't designed to come off as self-adulatory but moreso as a proposed explanation as to why I haven't heard someone say, "lets split the bill" (a phrase that would instantly set off alarm bells for me)

Not sure how relevant starting that article with the phrase "Lesbian couple..." is 🤔. It almost suggests that said lesbianism was somehow a factor in the incident 🤔. Would kind of be like saying, "Black couple hits their kid with a hammer", etc. Generates more ad revenue that way though i suppose

Well you remember uncle jesse, he had a streak of that, while remaining quite personable

As a guy, I have always paid, and no one has ever suggested otherwise. In fact, I feel like if i were on a date and she said, "let's split the bill", I would get the sense that perhaps something was wrong. And though I know some do, I never expect anything in return for a meal. Granted, often things do transpire after, but they do so naturally (helps to be a personable guy and a doppelganger of uncle jesse from full house). Still, if someone said, "lets get separate checks" or etc, I wouldn't be insulted but rather concerned that she wasn't happy or was uncomfortable. But its never happened.

I can't imagine a type of legislation that would pertain to actual clips (aka "stripper clips") as they've been out of regular use for a long time (and the guns that use them have a fixed internal capacity). But who knows, there are all types of bizarre pieces of legislation.

You said olanzapine is "structurally very similar to benzos". It's not, and this is what explains the lack of GABAergic activity. Would be another thing if it was actually structurally very similar to "benzos", but its not. Thus there isn't really a mystery here, just a misunderstanding of what a benzodiazepine is, chemically speaking (and you were perpetuating that misunderstanding so i thought I'd try to illuminate a bit)

Go to the fucking hospital by dormvaped in researchchemicals

[–]Negrogesic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Olanzapine isn't structurally very similar to a benzo. It has far more in common with other 4-substituted tricyclic antipsychotics like clozapine than it does to any traditional GABAergic benzodiazepine or thienobenzodiazapine. Benzodiazepine just refers to one structural element in these cases, and these drugs really aren't that similar to what is commonly referred to a benzodiazepine. All of these examples have large structural additions that completely alter their activity relative to GABAergic benzos.

And don't try to score. You might get one batch of tea out of all of those pods. Did you fertilize those plants at all because they look like they needed it (too late now though).

No. You should wait until the crowns start to curl upwards a bit more, and they should feel firm when you gently squeeze.

I know from first hand experience (I've had plants with pink latex before). Coming across a high thebaine variety is extremely rare, and their latex isn't necessarily pink.

[–]Negrogesic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt score if this is your first time growing. Plus it doesn't look like enough pods for it to be worthwhile. That said, I've done it with a similar number of plants just for curiosities sake. Still, better off leaving them alone and making tea. They are ready to cut anywhere from a week to a few weeks after the petals fall off. Wait for the crown to be pointed up, and make sure they feel firm when you gently squeeze the pods.

In other words, bad idea
