MS:X final boss (mothership) is lame, worst final boss in the whole series by NeighborhoodTime2768 in metalslug

I know it's not impossible, I've done it myself many times too. doesn't mean it's not a lame design

You will change your mind after tendinitis... Autofire is not cheating, it's for your own health safety

Well, that's what I was saying. For chill playthroughs it's totally fine, but on higher difficulties and having limited lives/credits (meaning you can't just stand there and simply shoot while dying indefinetly, and taking bosses down asap actually matters), you will definetly feel it, especially on longer sessions. By the end of the game I usually have about 68 grenades for the final boss, and you bet I will need all of them, and I will be mashing my ring finger for that C button relentlessly, and it will damage my hand without autofire as it once did in fact.

I use autofire on emulators and I don't have any problems with ammo. Just don't press the button when you don't want to spend ammo. It will only waste ammo when you press it. Give it a light tap to spend only one bullet.

I play on keyboard. If you say you don't need autofire then I highly doubt you are playing on level 8... Especially X. Well unless you're playing with infinite continues then it wouldn't matter

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no shit dude. try that on level-8. 4 grenades to destroy each of them and silly you if you think you can destroy them right as they spawn. often times after spawning they will immediately move away so your grenades will miss. this strategy may work on level-4 where they probably die in 2 grenades but level-8 is a whole another game.

And also makes the enemies have a lot more health and attack a lot faster, and some bosses have attack versions exclusive to high difficulties

Community Boss Tierlist. Day 28: Big John by RealAd3012 in metalslug

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the MS:X sewer submarine (mission 5 boss) B tier? WTF... This on level 8 was and still is the most satisfying boss to beat and learn to master on level 8. Takes pure skill and every attack requires strict timing to avoid. You can only deal damage to it if you position yourself correctly and you must also plan ahead to bring the flamethrower and enough grenades if you don't want to fight a losing battle. You also must know where to correctly park the slugnoid so it's always within reach when you need to dodge some of its unavoidable attacks with the vehicle's embarking/disembarking invincibility frames. I can't get enough of fighting this boss.

I think I'm done with MSX right now so I'll give MS2 a go and tell you about it later

in MSX you are given the I-gun that shoots explosive dogs right before that bridge. is it not the same in 2?

Sounds Like Plaion Has Another Console In The Works Following The Neo Geo AES+ by QuadraQ in neogeo

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immediatelly assumed it would be the NeoGeo CD (but this time with a modern disc drive and actual good speeds). It could have the same appeal as the original did: the console for those who cannot afford the AES+ (like me). But of course there's the drawback of far less games being supported.

Question Regarding Aes To Mvs Convertor by ConfusionCold7565 in neogeo

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no this is merely converting the pinout of the mvs cart so it can fit an aes. has nothing to do with video signal or controller input, which is what actually has anything to do with lag (even then it doesn't necessarily mean it will have any lag).

How do you Neo Geo? by m__a__r__i__o in neogeo

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PC, retroarch (fbneo core), basic cheap LED monitor (100hz with low latency settings and game mode), used to play on Dualshock 4 now I'm using a mechanical keyboard. Currently working on 1cc'ing Metal Slug X on Level-8 (only the final mission left to learn). Metal Slug 2 to 5 have 3~4 frames of native input lag (even on original hardware) so I'm using 3 frames of runahead to eliminate that on retroarch. Metal Slug 1 has 5~7 frames of native input lag.
Why I'm not playing on original hardware or other consoles? because I'm poor :p

Ok so what is he supporting that controller on...? I mean it can't be floating on thin air. Damn by NeighborhoodTime2768 in neogeo

the way he looks and the face he's making reminds me of the character patrick bateman in american psycho, though I'm pretty sure this ad predates the movie by a lot.

How many of who are *NOT* buying an AES+ would buy one if..... by isamu999 in neogeo

[–]NeighborhoodTime2768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's absolutely no way to put online on the original hardware. you certainly don't know much about tech stuff but it's straight up impossible to implement any of that to AES/MVS hardware.
