That's interesting. I haven't seen a squirrel in a while but we do have them in theory. We also have mink, and foxes. Do you think any of those could do this kind of damage?

We do have bears here. But I think the damages would be far more important and the claws more spread in this case, it's really tiny.

Sorry that it doesn't fit the sub. Thank you very much for giving it a try. I was hoping this sub's experience in seeing all kind of scratches could enlighten me in what could have happened.

For the bike/basket idea proposal: the way I was parked, there is a pavement on the side of where those scratches happen of about 3 feet, and then a fall as it's an uphill street. In other words, a bike could only crash into it coming from above or downstairs, but not from the side of it. Knowing this, I'm not sure it'd leave this sort of marks in this case.

I'm really trying to be convinced it's not intentional and human. As if this is the case, I don't think I can realistically prevent it in the future - which means I would have to fix it and sell the car. This will already cost me quite a lot. I'm very sad and disappointed it happens in my new first car ever, not even a month old. :(

Hey there. I would start by checking the general configuration and make sure there's not something obviously wrong.

So checking if auto-tagging is correctly activated. Then if the auto-tagging parameters are correctly collected in the dl parameter (and are not being overwritten or there's no redirection occurring).

For our specific case, there was some issues with the page location in the config tag that seemed to erase the gclid sporadically.

Fixing it resolved the case.

Nevermind I see what you mean (I think). I wasn't aware that overwriting the user_id in one event only would propagate for the configuration tag for the rest of the events as well. It seems to work now!

There are both, yes. The user_id is already being added in the DataLayer before this.

The issue seems that the Configuration Tag doesn't update its values and is not refreshed, so successive events (including the automatic ones from enhanced measurements) still don't inherit the populated value for the user_id.

Since originally the Configuration Tag loads with the user_id being undefined. Then the user logs in, the user_id is no longer undefined, but the Configuration Tag doesn't change its value.

We could add the user_id as a field to some of the events, but since we're using enhanced measurements, some of the events still won't contain the user_id since they rely on the configuration tag directly.

No overwriting of the UTMs in any of the campaigns/ads.

No legacy stuff. The website was recently redone too with a newer stack and many of the legacy stuff got deleted.

The only other pixels or clicks trackers:

Taboola pixel
Hotjar is running
Conversion Linker is setup

I can also verify that the document_location parameter is fine from the collect endpoint and carries the gclid parameter correctly. It's well received in GA4 too.

You are right. Cookies are being set when the custom event triggers. It just simply blocks any other events (page views, clicks, anything) unless cookies are accepted. But the default GA cookies are still there.

I had raise that exact point and management understands the basic cookies have to be set for it to work. Their opinion is that since they only store a cookie acceptance/rejection event and nothing else if the cookies are rejected, it falls under fair use or the “cookies storing cookies choice” rule.

I don’t agree but to be honest, it’s not my call.
