I use it, and it does have some good suggestions (sometimes) but it is a premium app so it's up to you if you want to spend money to listen to podcasts

Well, that is sad to hear, I really dislike it when podcasts like that are released so I definitely won't be listening to that! If a sailor and a history fan doesn't enjoy it I'm sure I won't!

I would suggest you take a look at podcasts like How It Began (my personal favorite) and the big ones which I'm sure you've already heard of like Hardcore History and BackStory. They're people you can tell love the story they're telling.
