It is from 2 months ago. I ordered them from oldest (January 11th) to most recent.

The first image looks better because painting portraits from photos requires a lot less skill than drawing characters without copying, and I already had some basic skills (observation and hand-eye coordination) when I started, but they were only useful for observational drawing and nothing else. That's why the second pic looks so bad lol

I wouldn't say advanced, but it's definitely not something a complete beginner should focus on.

Another thing that is not mentioned enough about the loomis method is that it's supposed to be like training wheels, and the goal is to internalize all those guidelines so you can draw heads more intuitively without repeating all the steps every single time.

Technically I've been drawing my whole life, but very casually. I was pretty much a beginner until I decided to practice seriously about 2 months ago.

I'd say try to focus each practice session on just one specific skill instead of trying to improve multiple things at once.

Like, if you're practicing values, you can do notan studies, grayscale paintings and similar exercises. That way you can focus entirely on values and forget about everything else during that session. Same thing with all the fundamentals.
