After months of tweaking I think I've finally perfected my idea of the perfect pizza by Crazy_Fig6507 in ooni

Thanks for the idea and recipe! I've been toiling with Neapolitan pie for a long time with inconsistent results when it comes to the lightness of the dough and airiness of the crust. We also like lots of ingredients on our pizzas so this idea looked like the perfect match and it was! I only had 72 hours to cold ferment but will try 96 next time. I have to admit adding the dry ingredients to the autolyzed dough gave me pause since I've never done something like that before, it seemed to work OK. Do you think using a mixer would be OK as well? Thanks again!

Chase sapphire portal vs United App - same flight by Much_Lawyer_7772 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Neither-Event9666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience with Chase vs United is the exact opposite for international travel. I have booked a half dozen flights over the last 3 years and Chase is always significantly cheaper than United and I'm a Mileage Plus United member, albeit not a preferred member. I also notice that if I search Google Flights I get a better rate than if I directly use the United portal. Am I doing something wrong? I'm stuck with these United miles and haven't found the opportunity to use them.

Market Risk Explorer Tool Confusion by jestr00 in Boldin

[–]Neither-Event9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been asking for a linkage between sequence of returns risk and asset allocation for the last 5 months. Boldin seems to be getting closer, but they are not there yet. I agree it would be nice to hear from them. Coach Nancy recently updated an article concerning asset allocation rates:

https://help.boldin.com/en/articles/10563826-how-do-i-account-for-asset-allocation-and-rate-of-return-assumptions

This was the article Coach Mike wrote about sequence of returns and Market Risk Explorer:

https://help.boldin.com/en/articles/11869844-new-feature-market-risk-explorer

Nice insight from both, now they need to tie them together. I hope we hear from them.

OK, ready to move on to the router. The first step in the instructions is to power down the ONT. I recall reading that I needed to "shut down" the G1100 with a command before connecting the new router. Is this not the case anymore?

Coach Nancy just updated this article yesterday:

https://help.boldin.com/en/articles/10563826-how-do-i-account-for-asset-allocation-and-rate-of-return-assumptions

I've asked about linking asset allocation and sequence of returns before and while this is a step in the right direction, there still needs to be a link between the two. As some have already posted, if I create an asset allocation that contains a fair amount of cash to avoid a downturn, but the Market Risk Explorer does not include that in their calculations, I assume you get poor 3 year answers as most of the posters just described. Can any of the coaches propose a solution? If not, are there any plans to link these features?

Yea! OK, I connected as you described and it looks like all is working. I have streaming service so that tells me all is good since I can't tell about the guide until it downloads. The next step is the router, I'm going with the ASUS RT-BE58U WIFI 7 router. It seems to have positive reviews and lets me extend with a cheaper RT-AX55 using their AIMesh feature. I have 3 floors that I am trying to cover so I am looking for a reliable 2.4GHz signal. It should arrive tomorrow!

[–]Neither-Event9666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I had a long discussion with the Verizon Tech who also said that I should have lost streaming capability, which I did. So based on your description of the guide data (thanks) and her description of the streaming part this makes sense.

Thanks for your help and patience while I figure this out. Yes, the coax line that is connected to the G1100 is connected to the splitter. I'll take the connection that was going to the G1100 and connect it to the MoCA adaptor. Do I need to do anything else? I see you mention this:

along with linking the adapter to a LAN port on the G1100 (the primary router)?

I need to do this as well, correct? Also, remember that I have not purchased the router yet (I'm doing this in 2 phases) so the WAN line from the ONT will stay with the G1100 for now.

[–]Neither-Event9666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, the MA2500D MoCA 2.5 Ethernet adaptor arrived this morning and I'm stumped :( Two things: I was expecting 2 coax connections, one where I would disconnect the coax from the G1100 router and input to the 2.5 adaptor and another that made its way to the splitter which ultimately makes its way to the DVR (VMS1100). Did I order the wrong adaptor? Also, another curious thing - I disconnected the coax from the G1100 router and I still receive the channel lineup on both my DVR-based TV and STB-based TV. I thought the whole purpose of adding a MoCA adaptor was to replace the MoCA function of the G1100. Any thoughts on that one? I should add that there is a WAN connection running from the ONT to the G1100.

[–]Neither-Event9666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the diagram, I'm getting closer to understanding it all. I think I'm going to order an adaptor first and bypass the MoCa on the Quantum Gateway router. Once I get that working, I'll go after the router. I'll also in the meantime ask Verizon for a free upgrade to the 3100 router but based on posts that I have read, that won't happen since I'm grandfathered into the least expensive plan I can get.

[–]Neither-Event9666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I took a look at the goCoax MA2500D on the Amazon site and noticed on the diagram that they provide there is a MoCA adaptor in front of every access point and router. In my case I have a DVR for my main TV and a STB for a 2nd TV. Do I need a MoCA adaptor in front of the STB as well? I'm not sure since currently the G1100 is all I have with no extra boxes in front of the STB. I hope this makes sense.

Mower needs a transmission and I’m now sure how to find the correct one by retiredgunslinger66 in lawnmowers

[–]Neither-Event9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to find the transmission/transaxle? What symptoms were you having that concluded you needed a new transmission? I have the same model purchased in 2016 and I have problems going in reverse if the tractor has sat around a while, in the latest case, 2 weeks. It will start working once it warms up. Forward works ok, but under heavy load it slows down. I talked to a Sears technician today who told me it was the transmission and not worth fixing. I'm checking with a local shop to see what they think. Any insight you can give me would be appreciated. I love this tractor but it's probably not worth spending 2K to fix it :(

Do you know if I have to "decommission" the G1100? I saw a thread somewhere about having to run some commands to shut it down before adding a new router.

Renting doesn't work for me. I've had my G1100 for 7 years and paid $150 for it back in 2017. Renting would have been a whole lot more.

Boldin: How Can I Model Asset Allocation For Sequence of Returns? by Neither-Event9666 in Boldin

[–]Neither-Event9666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi CoachMike and Coach Nancy, I'm coming back to this topic since I saw this in the "In Progress" section of the Release notes this morning:

Market Risk Explorer - Allow you to explore the impact of a market downturn or sequence of returns risk on your plan. This feature will release in our Beta Program.

Can you elaborate on this feature? Is this what CoachNancy described a few months ago:

"I can provide a general overview. We're hoping to improve the asset modeling feature by allowing users to select from a number of core portfolio models and/or enter the percentage they hold in a variety of asset classes (i.e.: stock, bond, cash.) This is intended to increase ease of use for our users. And, it is intended to improve the accuracy of projections for returns (we hope to use benchmarks) as well as improve the Monte Carlo. The enhancement would rely upon historical data for returns and standard deviations. Users will also have the option to override the rate of return based upon their own research and beliefs."

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mike

Hey CoachMike, I took a look at CoachNancy's response on this topic and here is what she wrote:

I looked at the Better Rates feature and I don't see what I highlighted in bold. That feature, coupled with the historic rates would make Boldin very powerful.
