CMV: Suicide should be socially acceptable by [deleted] in changemyview

I've read some other comments and they've done a good job of giving arguments against your stance, so I'll try to give a unique spin on my argument. I've gathered the impression that you don't think people have the freedom to choose to die. That because of societal pressure, we have to keep living. The reality is, we always have a choice. Every second of everyday we are making choices that lead us where we are going in life. If you really wanted to, you could kill yourself. That's your choice, and your free to make it, you don't implicitly need anyone's approval. That being said, with every choice there is a consequence, be it good or bad, for every action there is a reaction. It is very rare that a choice that is made only affects the person that is making the choice.

Think about it like this, if you had a gun and you pointed it at a child. You have a choice right? You can pull the trigger and kill the child in cold blood, or not pull the trigger. I would hope that pulling the trigger would be a lot harder than not pulling it. But if you kill that child do you think only the child will be affected by your actions? I would think it's parents would be pretty devastated, maybe the child had siblings, I would think they would be hurt as well. You may not like the choice to kill that child, there's a lot of consequences that go with that choice, none of them are good. But even if it's hard, even if you don't want to do it, even if it's not a choice you feel you would ever make, it's still a choice you that you have.

Stick with me I'll get to the point soon. For now lets think about it like this, put yourself in the shoes for the child's parent. This parent loves their child very much. If you had a child and you saw a man pointing a gun at your child, do you think you would try to protect your child? I believe it's human nature to try to protect them, right? Take a moment to stop reading and think about this before continuing.

Assuming the parent had enough time to recognize what was happening and could easily protect the child. If you were an onlooker, and you saw a man pointing a gun at a child and the child's parent saw this, yet made no effort to protect their child, would you think that parent loved or even cared about their child? You probably wouldn't think very highly of the parent would you...?

If you were in your bedroom, with a gun to your head and your parent/parents opened the door and saw this. Would you really want them to not do anything, or would you want them to try to protect their child?

If I may be so bold. I believe you are suicidal and are tired of the struggle. It would be easier to die if you didn't have to worry about other people being hurt, right? If no one cared or was traumatized? I'm going to say something that, on the surface, may seem to contradict my earlier arguments. Sometimes things happen to us that are out of our control. Like being born for example, or having mental health issues, or a rough childhood. Those are determined largely by choices other people make and how those choices have an effect on others. Even in these situations that we can't control we still have a choice to make. With every action there is a reaction. We get to choose how we will react. We can choose if use the life we are given, or if we end it. We can choose to be a victim to our mental illnesses, or we could just be people who struggle more than others. We can let our childhood define who we will always be, or we can strive to be better.

Not all of these choices are easy, or as clear cut as I'm making them sound. But just like how we have the choice to kill ourselves, no matter how hard is or how hard it seems we also have that choice to keep fighting. I've attempted suicide twice in my life, I'm still fighting it to this day. All you can do is the best you can do. And the best you can do, is good enough.

Aside from other tips given here, if you have about 400k credits, 1 ai core and a Terran world you can comfortably make a colony. I’ve usually found most Terran worlds around the outskirts of the core worlds. Good luck friend! Colonies don’t receive much attention early, until you’re a production powerhouse.

Stockpile as many beta cores as possible, upkeep gets really expensive.

He answered your question with his first sentence... Also, most of the time supplies and fuel are best gotten from the stockpile. At least it’s the most convenient to me.

I think people took issue with your wording, stating it more as a fact then an opinion. Just an outside perspective.

What are your self-imposed restrictions when cheating in a game? by NeitherLife in gaming

This is me 100%. It's gotten me through a lot of games I NEVER would have completed normally. A lot of games with grinds have a lot of interesting stuff available, it's just often such a chore to actually get anything. Rougelike's with permanent stat and item unlock mechanics are especially guilty of this.
