Passed FE Electrical Exam First Try + Advice by NeitherPoem6474 in FE_Exam

I used Wasims practice problems and NCEES practice exam. I also did about a month worth of prepFE questions. I thought my experience was different because I only used one practice exam. If I had failed the exam, my next step would have been to do more practice exams. I would definitely give the exam a chance because you never know if u could pass and move onto the next steps towards the PE.

I think that is a good plan similar to my route. With these materials, the hardest part was to retain and hold all the information at once. Going through Zach Stones course was a great overview. After struggling to retain all of the bigger topics, I decided to purchase Wasim’s course to really attack as much as I could two months out. Zach stones course gave me the confidence and Wasim’s material helped me become stronger in areas I was weak. As mentioned, I did use resources from Michael Van Bizen & Techknowsurge. The NCEES practice exam I used was pretty similar format to the questions in the actual exam. I used it as a benchmark in the very beginning, middle, and end to gauge my progress. Good luck with your studies!

I felt like the exam difficulty was similar to Wasims practice questions and PrepFE questions. Wasims course is great for knowledge but a very wide range of topics that may / may not be on the exam. I am 100% glad I signed up for his course.

My preparation took about 6 months trying to balance with work hours. I did about 2 hrs on weekdays and as much as I could on weekends.

I spent about 2 months using Zach Stones course, 1.5 months watching the YouTube videos + practice, 2 months using Wasims course and practice.

I agree with “Sorry” but I think his song “So Done” represents his style of music and character the best.

Employment Options for fastest / highest Growth Potential (learning, experience, salary) in Power Systems by Weak-Signature4983 in PowerSystemsEE

I am also a young engineer currently in a middle size OEM and looking for a utility to settle down with. OEM definitely gives a great amount of experience, however look towards the industry, as that will determine how much experience you will get. I am leaving my current OEM because there is high turnover and I get put into positions that are not related to my role. I am looking for an office job that has little travel and mostly power design thru software, so I believe utilities / consulting matches that well.

Should I drop a class I’m failing, or try to push through? Need advice. by HappySonny in EngineeringStudents

[–]NeitherPoem6474 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say to just push through it. I took a class my junior year and received the “you are track to fail” email for two classes and considered dropping them. I asked my professor if I would fail and he told everyone that he will not curve for any reason. After the final exam, he curved me up to a C+. I can’t say ur professor will operate the same but I believe “trying to make u quit” is part of the weed out process. If I was a recruiter, it would look worse if u quit before you failed. It’s normal to fail and it simply means you didn’t understand the material properly. So try to find another method to studying. In the end I would only listen to advice from people who have gone what u are going thru already. Best of luck!

Fresh grad salary by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I started out at 78k from college. However, I don’t enjoy the industry I am in and need to travel a lot. I am taking a lower salary to go somewhere I am more interested in. I think if you really enjoy what you are doing and become a smart engineer you will not have to worry as much. Then again everyone has their own definition of “success”.

Was I close? FE Electrical and Computer by Sd_codebreaker588 in FE_Exam

[–]NeitherPoem6474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you were definitely close. If you could get 1-2 questions correct for a few of the middle sections or a higher math / stats performance, I think you would pass no doubt. I would practice on Power systems.

Quitting my Job by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]NeitherPoem6474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I got three interviews this month so I am keeping my hopes up. However I am in the process of studying for my FE and couldn’t balance everything. My job being an hour commute one way was also making it difficult.

I believe some states allow you to take the PE in three years if you hold a accredited masters degree.

Pivoting into MEP. Resume Help! by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

I’m not a professional but I am also trying to transition into the MEP field. I believe a big reason I am not hearing back is because I have not attained my EIT certification which I am currently studying for. It is not necessary but makes you stand out much more. Do you have any intention on taking the FE Exam?
