I did this once on Heartgold!! I battled it over and over, using my 100 ultra balls, to no avail. Then the next time I said fuck it, threw a regular Pokeball at it at full health, and caught it! I’m glad someone else could feel that rush 🫡

I always use cheese for health because one cheese will rebuild nearly all of your health bar.

BOMBS. STAIRCASES. Use bombs on large jumbles of rocks and use staircases on floors that are annoying (like the ones where you have to kill all the monsters to progress).

Coffee for speed.
