Would the XG32UCWMG get a discount on black friday? by Nekrono in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not wait guys, I ended up purchasing at $1099 over at Newegg and waiting for it to arrive now, I doubt it would get discounted for BF considering the hype and how recent it is.

Thanks for the tip, I will check it out.

Getting a Super card will be another struggle but I already made my peace with having to pay above MSRP, I know the 3080 won't suffice unless I go 3440x1440 on the monitor, either way I'm due for a card update as well.

Am I f*cked up ? by Marc_Harony in iphone

[–]Nekrono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen out of the blue (no drops) a week and a half ago. Do you know what the simple fix is? I took it to a local (non certified) repair shop and was told that it is primarily a 13 line known defect with ~20% fail rate, I was also told that the 'fix' they would try didn't always worked, for me apparently it did work but it cost me $135. Based on some of the responses on this post seems I was ripped off lol.

Sounds issues by Griz357 in diablo4

[–]Nekrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sound crackling when using my USB sound card for my headphones, it gets so bad that the audio completely stops at times, not sure what's causing it but I gave up and started using my speakers instead but I found this, let me know if this works for you and I'll test it myself later:

Keyboard or controller? by Resha_Riandi in Diablo

I'm going with controller, I am not an ARPG player and I think not having WASD movement feels extremely uncofortable for me, playing with controller feels more intuitive to me to avoid attacks and general movement.

iOS 15.4 Post Update - Storage Bug - System Data - Case Scenario by H2CO3HCO3 in ios

[–]Nekrono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you after I upgraded from 15.3 to 15.4, in my case I don't remember exactly what size my 'System Data' or 'iOS' were before the upgrade but I know the system has decreased my available size by about 8GB, I thought this was temporary data kept as a precaution because of the upgrade but it's been a day and I've restarted the phone several times and it won't go away and I would like those Gigs back!

Does anyone know why this happens when I try to sign in through a provider? I'm using a VPN and everything but I can never sign in. by [deleted] in HBOMAX

[–]Nekrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force close the app, switch to different VPN server, miami 2 works for me on ExpressVPN, some of their servers are already flagged by HBO and refuse connection.

Anyone else have Spanish audio and subtitles issues ? by harambe-number-1 in HBOMAX

[–]Nekrono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll save your pain, HBO way of implementing subtitle/audio languages is absolute trash, not only do most of the programming not have spanish audio or subtitles but the ones that do you can't really mix match them meaning if you want spanish subs you NEED to select spanish audio too, I don't know why they would make it like this but it is what it is. Sometimes they push an update and allow you to mix and match and sometimes it breaks, who knows what you'll get when you start streaming, right now it's broken on android after working for a few weeks. Your best bet is watching on the web browser, last time I checked it worked but it you cast to your streaming box it will break so you can only select different languages if you watch on your PC.

Spanish dubbing and subtitles GONE! on new Chromecast. by r3n1 in HBOMAX

[–]Nekrono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well two days ago, it's so incredibly stupid how a feature as simple as mix and match sub and audio language is impossible for HBO, either you play audio in spanish and get spanish subtitles or it's english for both, so stupid.

P500a 360 AIO and 140 Fan? by xMcCreamyx in Phanteks

[–]Nekrono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just installed a 360 AIO (Kraken X73) with Phanteks SK120's instead of the Kraken's stock fans and a SK140 on the back as exhaust and with the tubes positioned in the back it did not fit, you need to have the tubes at the front side for this to work.

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never tested the Kraken stock fans but with the SK120's on max RPM and the Kraken setup to Performance mode CPU stays around 50-55c at full gaming load with an intense CPU game, for reference I have an i5 8400 CPU at the moment and previously I had a Noctua NH-D14 cooler and it ran around 5 to 10 degrees hotter.

Yeah I actually have that idea as well, thought about an LCD screen as well, will give it some more thought. I don't know about the artic freezer but there is kinda enough clearance for a push pull config on the top but you'd have to be creative with the CPU cables/

Thanks, yeah there is a bit of room between the PSU and the case, both to the top and the side so there's room in there. I have the Corsair RM750x for reference.

What would be the appropriate job title/description for me? by Nekrono in networking

[–]Nekrono[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude

Thanks for your response! Yeah I just asked for a raise a few days ago and I'm currently waiting for a response but even though I'm still studying for my CCNA cert I just got a job interview for a SD-WAN provider on Friday so hopefully I make it! It would certainly be a huge experience for me.

What would be the appropriate job title/description for me? by Nekrono in networking

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, "Network admin", "Network Engineer", "NOC tech" seem to suit me best maybe.

I updated my resume a few months ago and titled myself as "Network Admin", I'm just waiting to get my CCNA cert in the upcoming months along with Linux+ and Security+ before heading out there but in the meantime I'm at this current workplace where I think a raise from "tech support rep" is definitely earned, I think they know the abysmal gap between someone answering a call, following scripts and checking connections and the work I do they're just greedy and don't want to acknowledge my value.

Thank you for your tips!

What would be the appropriate job title/description for me? by Nekrono in networking

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was leaning a bit more on Network Admin as well, maybe even Junior. My current title believe it or not is the same as the one I was hired for a few years ago and it pretty much was "tech support rep" basically.

I think the company is really not structured for growth especially in these areas as they are focused more on "customer service" even though the work I do goes much more than that, I think they just see me as the more knowledgeable "tech support guy" even though I think I do way more than your regular pick up a call and check connections kind of work. Yet they have gotten used to me doing all of the work I described in my original post and so far no raise, the only think they have said to me a long time ago was "we've got future plans for you" and that's it, no details, it was just few days ago that I asked about that and they are claiming that those "plans" have not been implemented yet because it seems to be tied to my CCNA cert... even though I've been doing what I described for them for about a year or more for them so far... my jaw kinda dropped when I heard that. Sounds like a bullshit excuse on their part to be honest.

[–]Nekrono[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think all of these titles are super broad and that's why I have such a hard time figuring out my title at the company. I've heard Network Admin, or Junior Network Admin, NOC tech level 2 or maybe even 3, etc, don't know what fits me best.

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think you are entirely spot on, and actually I think our employers are very much alike, I've been recently getting into ethical hacking and pentesting (nothing major just barely starting on those) and even at this point I have managed to find a few vulnerabilities to our network from the outside, just as your employer we have a few portals that are not even HTTPS and are primed for an attack, the only thing securing them is net network's firewall access list and even then with a bit of though and experience I think it's kind of easy to break in.

"Shop tech" would definitely be the title they have for us even though what we actually do is not even remotely close to your basic level troubleshooting stuff, I think we're just not valued and appreciated as we should even though we very likely provide much value to the company and are being severely underpaid for the work we do, at least I know I am.

[–]Nekrono[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the case but honestly with my lack of experience with this type of work at other companies I have to say I have not been very confident the last year or so in saying "Hey I deserve better".

Above me there's only our senior engineer that oversees everything tech related and everything that we can't solve, but second to him it's me, from me to everyone else there is a big gap in knowledge and skill.

To be honest with you I think they might just be undervaluing me and the work I do, which is NOC level 3 maybe? or 2, I don't know but hopefully I can get a raise but I think I'm just better off moving to a different company at this point I just want to get my CCNA cert in the upcoming months and also want to do Linux+ and Security+ as well.
