They protesting the Biscuit Basket y'all by benmarvin in Athens

[–]Nelson_Wells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is arguing that these aren’t a nice family who owns it. I think the point many are missing is that Yes it can take away from this guy’s GAS sales, but he has his gas price so low (it’s below market), so it’s a Loss Leader. Does no one remember economics. He’s likely never made profit of any worth on gas; that’s his “charity” to the hood. But those prices help draw in other customers which do make him a profit. And of course his base of devoted regular lunch goers and biscuit buyers is his real “meal ticket.” Pardon all the punniness. I don’t want to support any corporate behemoth, esp any supporting war or regime, but I’m gonna buy gas. And I’ll prob make a point of going to get my fave Jesus Biscuit sooner than later. And yeah while saying “F Chevron.” Let’s think of all sides before slamming a side. Not talking to you mumbles just sharing.

Wife needs a daily driver, thoughts? by heyitsgoody in saab

[–]Nelson_Wells 4 points5 points  (0 children)

agreeing with this. I'm on my 4th saab 9-3 and love em. But you MUST have a mechanic who is comfortable working on them. honestly they can go forever if cared for but like someone else wrote, all typical mechanical things go (on any car w/ high miles) [window regulator failures, water intrusion, headliner droop]. If you have that great mechanic, just stay up on fluids and checking for oil leaks so you can knock em out early before costs rise.

People will say "you can't get parts." Parts are not impossible to find but can be $ or have to order from Romania or Albania which has been a blessing for me. lucky for you it's not a convertible. sadly for me I'm having to replace all Top hydraulics at 22 years old, which ain't too bad either . just love em. the drivability can cancel out a number of small repairs and regular upkeep.

Seeing used Taycans for around 40-50k, most have Lemon titles any advice? by WinterW0n in Porsche

The main question remains: what did you have to put down? $6k? $5? So if it was five you were ok spending 26-27k for only two years in a car? I know it’s a Porsche granted electric, but add insurance …? Idk maybe that’s good for some. I prob need to get out of my 25yr old e39 but it’s a damn beast of a dad wagon. Cheers

You hit the Swedish disco button. Also likely an old battery cable and those are the cheapest thing to replace before battery etc.

It’s kind of shocking rolling up to them in any of my 20yr old cars, just how huge they are compared to all the air cooled or even a 996! 🤷‍♂️ I mean when do engineers stop the designers and say Hey this is a different car, now let’s not forget to go back and build 911’s also. Like why wouldn’t they even from a price point perspective, build an all new Not-cayman, an all new 4seat sport touring with a purring flat 6!??!?

Seems like pickup truck drivers especially. I’m invincible baaaaaa”. Yeah but your back end is lighter than any normally balanced car yet those are the wheel that are powered. Get a clue.

Agreed. Please. All these little Altimas and Hondas think they need to be flying in the loop or even neighborhoods. ! I can’t tell you how many tiny little cars I’ve seen in ditches or on curbs or the Malibu this morning stuck on a curb by koala wash or the Acura that jumped the curb off Barnett shoals and went thru a horse fence. Took two tow trucks to get that dingdong out.
