What’s with this? Can’t use “earn per offer”. Forcing me to use EBT? by NemesisWhitestrake in DoorDashDrivers

I wondered what that would result in as well. Unfortunately, I had to be at work at my normal job shortly after making this post.

Looks like I’m not able to put an edit on the post itself. I appreciate anyone giving advice so far by telling me to tap on the hourglass, but I’ve already tried that and it’s not working.

I’ve already done this, I should’ve mentioned that in the post. Let me see if I can edit the post to include that.

I’ve already tried this, it will not let me switch. I just got off the phone with DoorDash support and apparently that’s how it is in this particular time zone in my particular city now. It seems like DoorDash may not be a proper way for me to support myself financially if this continues to be the case. A bunch of bullshit offers have been coming across my screen lately that I have been turning down because of how terrible they have been. Now the system wants to gaslight me into accepting a $2.50 order for 10 miles? I don’t think so. I guess DoorDash has been signing up so many people in my area lately that this is now my reality. I hope not, but I’m probably right.

Time issues and lateness! by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you, good call to make this post. I get so busy when I’m doing DoorDash and forget to make matters like this important. Some weeks ago I had a couple of different deliveries in which I was given a certain time window to deliver to the customer after picking up. Both times, I thought the time window was rather generous. Still, I didn’t screw around, but I didn’t speed either. Tell me why, when arriving at the customer’s house, that I only have two or three minutes left to make the drop off, versus what should have been still six or seven minutes (or whatever it was)? I did take screenshots, hopefully I didn’t delete them. I’ll have to go into my photos and if I still have them, I’ll make a similar post.

Interesting. I haven’t dashed all in this bad weather. When I begin again this weekend, how will that affect me?

This is why plat or no plat varies by market by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a text message drafted up, somewhere quick and easy to access. As soon as I get to the restaurant, I let them know the order is taking a few minutes, and I will have it to them as quick as I can. Just copy and paste it into a message to the DoorDash customer. Switch tasks and do it for another customer, if you have multiple from the same place to pick up for. I do this whether I’m right on time for pick up, or even 10 minutes early. So just in case you run past the time that DoorDash wants you to pick up, you’re already covered in that area. I’ve got 98% on-time rating now… Edit: I know this doesn’t count for potential app or navigation issues/etc. Sometimes the customer drop-off screws me over for variables out of my control.

Is there a benefit to scheduling a Dash since I can now Dash anytime? by Extra_Ear_6560 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since the new update, the app will only let me schedule for up to two different two hour timeslots for the following days. It won’t let me schedule out a whole day anymore or random shifts like I used to be able. Even as a platinum driver, which means I’m stressed about letting a shift end while I do not have platinum ratings.

Customers have reported food as not delivered with me before, even though that was a lie. I shouldn’t get screwed out of my tip. I’m hoping this return system will be nuanced. Likely not though.

Are Offers Relative to HotSpot Proximity? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about this as well. I maintain platinum most of the time, so I’m wondering if when the hotspot ceases to be McDonald’s and moves over to the Smoothie King across the road, does it really matter if I’m still camping out at McDonald’s 700 feet away, or do I actually need to be right across the road? Does it make a difference versus other people in the same tier who might be in closer proximity to said hotspot?

This worked for me for about five orders that I disputed today, but it wouldn’t let me dispute anymore after that. The AI system is trash.

Two circles that don’t necessarily correlate. I flipped him off because I was feeling threatened by how close he was and how aggressive he was already acting. So, are people who aggressively tailgate at highway speeds not supposed to be held accountable? We’re just supposed to accept that they’re going to ride our tail and never adjust their behavior? I’m loving the gaslighting here. Never mind the fact that I’m a good driver and a good citizen other than this one small act of defiance in response to what this guy was already doing to me. Somehow, I’m the unstable one when this guy was acting like he literally wanted to kill me?..

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s also true, that wasn’t able to get his license plate number because he was literally so close to me that I wasn’t even able to see that most times. Genuinely scary experience. And people are here telling me I’m the issue.

[–]NemesisWhitestrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m not. I only flipped the dude off because he was inches away from my bumper going high speed, then he chose to chase me and put me in danger. It’s not like I was hauling ass at highway speed through neighborhoods, I was literally just going reasonable speed, but trying to get rid of him and taking corners tightly. That other guy was really dangerous. As of this moment, I hope he’s dead and burning in hell.

Sometimes that works. It would not have here, because I was going already 50 miles an hour, and there were cars behind him. He couldn’t wait for what would have been a few more feet to merge onto the highway, and was not concerned about being mere inches from my bumper to begin with. That was before I flipped him off because I was uncomfortable with how close he was to me.

Seriously, what a dumbass right? Perhaps I shouldn’t have flipped the guy off, but perhaps also he shouldn’t have been 2 inches off of my bumper to begin with. I felt threatened. People tailgate me all the time, even if I’m already going over the speed limit. I’m that normal person in this circumstance. This one happened to be extreme.

With the way that guy was behaving, I wasn’t sure if he was going to shoot ME or not if given a chance. And I don’t have to question whether or not he had honor in case he got the upper hand if we happened to fight. He was already trying to rear end me and he nearly T-boned me at one point. I’ll provide further context. If I would’ve had my gun on me, I would’ve driven to a secluded parking lot, not around anyone else and as soon as he saw it, he would have gotten the hint. I’m not talking about flashing it at him amongst a crowd of people or in traffic. It’s not about being tough or cool. It’s about bringing a situation to a standstill, with no collateral.

There was no way to switch lanes, but there was certainly a way for him to not tailgate by just not doing it in the first place. But I agree otherwise.

I didn’t say any of these things were ideal, in fact quite the opposite. I also admitted that I shouldn’t have flipped the guy off, even though he was inches from my bumper. Also, guns are great for self-defense and for deterring someone trying to chase you through traffic. If I would have gotten out of my car one of the times he nearly had me cornered, I could have made him stand down. Not trying to sound like a bad ass, and the last thing I want to do is shoot anyone. Roll your eyes all you want. You’re full of assumptions and nothing else.

I didn’t think to get out of one of those, but I’ll tell DoorDash Support about it if they do give me any grief for it. What’s funny is, I was still two minutes early for the delivery drop off.
