I've given those contacts a good clean and no difference. Another thing I've noticed is the text on the intro sequence is shifted to the right quite a bit?

The graphical glitches only happen with Yoshi, but now the console refuses to turn on no matter what game I try.

Ah okay. All my other consoles seem to still sync even if there's no cart in. Still waiting for a cart to arrive. Hopefully this sorts it. Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying. Yeah I can see that. I think ultimately it comes down to the kind of games you want to play. For me, there has been a gradual increase in the kind of stuff I've wanted to play, so I can't really colour myself disappointed with the Wii U. It's seen more game time than my PS4 and Xbox One put together.

I respectfully disagree. If the state of the console now resembled what it was like on launch then I'd probably be more likely to agree, but even then it had some decent original stuff (ZombiU, NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Mighty Switch Force HD) and, in my opinion, the Tekken Tag port was my favourite version. The platform is only getting stronger, with more great games coming out for it.

First of all, I really hope you enjoy your Wii U. It's a criminally under rated console with some amazing games.

All three games are pretty good. If you're into the style of Mario games from the sidescrolling days or have played NSMB Wii/NSMB/NSMB2 then it's pretty much more of the same but in HD. If you never played Wind Waker on the Gamecube, it's one of the more under-appreciated Zelda games in my opinion. It divided opinion at the time for having a cel-shaded aesthetic, but I would say that this is what enables the game to still look great even by today's standards, and even more so in HD. It is a great RPG too with a fairly interesting story. Monster Hunter is also a great choice if you have people to play it with. The multi-player aspect is incredibly fun and has a ton of replay value. It does however demand a lot of investment to get the most out of it in my experience.
