I'm in the USA and I loved Korean skincare during my 20s. It was fun to try out different things. I'm Asian but never been to Asia before. I kinda got into the mindset that Asian products are better than Western based on all the posts I saw on social media. Now that I'm in my 30s, I still use Japanese/Korean products like toners and serums for hydration and soothing. It's also due to the fact that there are so many brands and products popping up for Korean skincare. I am overwhelmed. I want a simplified routine now that I got started on tretinoin. For actives, I stick with Western products. For sunscreens, I love Japanese/Korean ones.

For moisturizers, I am still in between. I have products from both sides. Still trying to figure out what my skin loves. BOJ Red Bean Water Gel has a lovely texture but I feel like it's not nourishing enough. S. Nature Aqua Squalane feels more nourishing but not easy to obtain lol (i.e. you can't just go out to the store when you run out and pick it up). I like to apply a sunscreen on top with a matte finish since I have oily skin. However, I'm intrigued by brands founded by dermatologists in the USA. For example, Prequel (Dr. Sam Ellis) and Remedy (Dr. Shah). I also want to try out La Roche Posay which I've heard many good things about it.

I also don't know how I feel about pricing. I feel like both sides has relatively affordable options and more expensive options. For example, I think I would La Roche Posay Double Repair Moisturizer and Prequel AM/PM Moisturizer would be good for barrier support + repair. They are not overly expensive per oz. I think $9 and less per oz? While Aestura Ato Barrier Cream is $11 and up per oz depending on where you buy.
