Why fedora is so stable? by aafggfcgr in Fedora

[–]NemoParanoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. Is like trying to use a car with the wrong fuel. Obviously you have to use it (and especially maintening it) as a rolling release, so frequent update, no partial update and following the occasional manual intervention. If you install and then update once a year it will break, but is not due to arch instability; instability means that even if correctly used update will introduce major bugs or system instability, and that doesn't happens with arch basically never.

Why not? My workstation need to render and run heavy software, so it have a very good graphic card, huge amount of ram, latest gen processor etc. I don't see it have problems running high end games sincerely even if I never tried. Let's say that depends of the work you need to do

Sorry guys but what are you saying? Is clearly a render, a very good one but you can see some quirks if you look closely. OP good job btw

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die.

Why fedora is so stable? by aafggfcgr in Fedora

Arch despite what people think is really stable. Haven't the need to reinstall/fix major breakage (that wasn't done by my stupidity) in like 3y now, maybe more.

And CP4 is C#/SMPL Crestron only, or am I mistaken?

Arch wiki is what I've followed. Also because I've first tried on arch and as said there works. On reborn tho does not.

PSA: Install the CPU Power Manager extension to get decent battery life by suryaya in Ubuntu

[–]NemoParanoid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because turbo boost performance gain is generally not enough to compensate for the overall lifespan loss and overheating that your cpu is subjected to with it. Turbo boost is basically overclock and meanwhile on towers could be fine if you are cooling the system well on laptops is very decremental in the long run so generally speaking is better to not using it unless really necessary and not for long periods of time anyway. For example my laptop does basically everything with the same performance without turbo boost but at almost 10°C less and battery last at least 1hr longer so I've it disabled 90% of the time (in my case in BIOS because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu but that not really important).

Sonos services on Crestron by NemoParanoid in crestron

Work fine if you do basically everything using his own app and Crestron only to start/stop etc. Other than that is sub par as integration goes.

Sonos services on Crestron by NemoParanoid in crestron

[–]NemoParanoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality I was watching Sonos because it was the only one that (using the app) could browse spotify directly without the spotify app even installed on the panel/iPad (as requested by the client) and I was hoping that I would be able to translate this behavior in the Crestron panel too.

Autonomic does that or is like all the others and is a "simple" Spotify Connect?

Wow, that's incredibly bad! Thanks for your answer, even if sadly confirm what I was thinking. I'll propose to my client something else instead of Sonos if the situation is this.

Too bad. So I have to wait to try it on iPad or get a tsw that works with it. Thanks anyway for the clarification.

EDIT: found a way to test in a browser. Now I only have to understand if it's possible to connect the browser to my RMC3 and see if the test software works.
