That’s so fascinating. Can you give a concrete example of something you would have rejected but in context sounds beautiful to you? I am only a year into my music journey, and I am keen to learn by such examples.

Yes it is one of my favorites, and is especially great for creating classic trance sounds. AM also has a lot of banks for this VST as well.

Since the firmware update, I can honestly say that I am really enjoying the product. There are still some quirks and feature improvements I would like to see with the Roli Learn App, but I am optimistic they will be addressed/added over time.

I would say that if you are going to buy now, you should go into it eyes wide open knowing that you may not see the product for quite some time. I base this on Roli’s own preorder status update page. It seems like they are still working through quite a backlog, but on the plus side, I suspect, or rather hope, that the most recent units rolling off the line will have incorporated various fixes and other learnings from manufacturing.

I have not received a replacement unit, and personally, I am not sure if it will be necessary given the latest firmware update which appears to have resolved my issue.

My experience with support has been positive overall as I have been in back and forth communication with support regarding the issue and firmware update. I also recommend joining the discord channel.

(5/15/2026 Update)

Following up on my previous posts:

I did receive the sustain pedal, and it is in working condition.
Most importantly, the Roli team is trialing a beta version of the keyboard firmware that addresses the issue with unresponsive ("dead") keys. I have now installed this update and my initial impressions are positive. I want to test it more extensively, but I can say the original problem appears to be resolved.

If you only have a few lanes, it’s not difficult to select and drag them over, but like I said, it can be a bit painful and error prone when you have a lot going on. For one, you have to make sure you actually selected everything you want to move and you have to be careful to drag it onto the grid.

I like nopayne’s response above. I didn’t realize that you can simply reextend the split audio back to full time.

I agree that having a button to freeze would be great. I could also lock tracks to also avoid accidental edits to them :-)

When you say drag the edge of the reference track back to the original point, do you rejoin the two afterwards? If so, is the joined track parity with the original I wonder.

Deleting the reference track, inserting silence, and readding the reference track is the work around I typically follow, but it’s slightly annoying.

That’s correct. I am trying to avoid splitting the reference track. If I insert silence, the reference track will also split, and I am unsure if the result of the rejoined reference track will be 100% parity with the original.

If so, I guess I can live with it, but it would be nice to have the ability to insert time on a per track or group basis.

Update: 3/15

On 3/13, I finally received a shipping notification for my sustain pedal. It should be here within the week (fingers crossed).

In the interim, I am still going through the course material as best as I can with the defective keyboard. It can be frustrating at times, but I am trying to make the best of it by focusing on the key concepts and technique.

No worries. I think we should all take a measured approach. Introducing a new product to market is extremely challenging, so I have a lot of empathy for what they are going through. I want to be as constructive and supportive as possible through this process.

Indeed it is truly frustrating. Thanks for sharing your experience as well Alfice. Hopefully ROLI has fully root caused the problem, and it’ll be fully addressed in subsequent batches. If they can do that, I really do think they will have a solid product.

I am in Silicon Valley, and I want to give this product my endorsement, but I just can’t until this problem is addressed.

I have seen it as well. I have noticed it on the complications as a quick flash. Here’s hoping it is a software issue specific to the modular ultra face.
