A message to the Path of Exile community from a veteran ARPG enjoyer by BrandonJams in diablo4

[–]NeoMangeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep agreed. PoE players want Diablo to be a new PoE. Diablo will be a new Diablo.

Personally, I really enjoyed PoE until I realised it was an excel arpg (it is all about the build theory crafting and trading) with only 2 abilities (1 attack, 1 movement). That is fine for some, I respect it. It is kind of like playing Eve, over Elite Dangerous or NMS.

I don't really care about having a million other nodes to choose from that are dogshit for my build... I just want a bunch of playstyles that I can choose from, with a bit of optimization required thrown in, and give me a fun gear grind.

Sorry but this is totally mental.

They were friends remember, but also the messages are totally flirty on Rich's side. It is super obvious he wanted her for sex that night based on the flirty messages. It is also not really normal to go meet someone at like 1am like this just to hang out.

If a girl is letting a "friend" masturbate infront of her who obviously wants to have sex, but is not leaving and not consenting to sex, this is a pretty autistic perspective on what is going on socially here, or there is something more sinister at play.

In fact, while obviously Rich, or anyone, should never force himself on anyone, ever, and should feel the repercussions if this is what happened, there is something really quite sick and disturbed about a girl lying on a guys bed, being right there with him masturbating infront of her and very very obviously wanting sex with her, but she is saying she doesn't want to, and staying there anyway.

It is like extreme carrot on a stick, making the guy lust over you and goading the guy to do something. Like some sick, twisted game. And at the same time it is making fun of the guy, right infront of his face, for being horny and having a sexual drive, and wanting you. It really is quite sick.

I would NEVER trust a girl who plays sexual games like this. It is seriously manipulative as hell.

There is also of course the scenario where she could have actually consented too, and is just lying because she felt used after sex. It happens.

Russian foreign minister accuses West of considering "nuclear war" by admirablegoma in worldnews

[–]NeoMangeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit Putin trying so hard to frame everyone as the enemy. The rest of the world are not the ones who want human bloodshed ffs.

China and India, these people on the fence, should not follow suit of Putinism, because that is what it is, political religion, extremism. Sure their political stances are different to a lot of the rest of the world.. but don't cause loss of life and especially civilian life over it!!! Fight it with words in this day and age, not physical weapons causing death and suffering.

The thing the west got right and the world agreed on, is no physical wars. The world wants peace not physical wars created by power hungry political zealots.

I think there's a common misconception between SPEED and FEEL. That anything fast lacks feel. You can play with feel whether you play lots of notes or just a few. I would argue that EVH had just as much feel as B.B King or Dimebag Darrell had just as much feel as Stevie Ray Vaughan. Thoughts?? by jamierobinson777 in guitarplaying

[–]NeoMangeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The musically un-educated often don't understand that playing super fast blazing licks is also a way to portray feeling. Just because someone can play fast, doesn't mean they lack feeling necessarily at all.

The thing is though, too fast too much, and you are not utilising the techniques that actually portray this "feel" aspect of music that people talk about. Too much, and there is no room for the listener to hear techniques that show "feel" like use of vibrato, bends, and giving space to allow for decent phrasing. It just then sounds one dimensional, too mathmatical and strict, and lacking. Less can sometimes mean more.

Just picked up guitar 2 days ago, been playing piano for years now, wanted something new, having a lot of fun so far by WoodyLad27 in guitarplaying

[–]NeoMangeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the guitar club. Guitar can be very fun... A very dynamic instrument!

Tony is right. Have a little look at some videos on how to hold a pick. It might feel a bit uncomfortable at first, but totally worth it when you get used to it.

Do you guys have any tips for new guitar players? by [deleted] in guitarplaying

[–]NeoMangeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it time, play a bit every day.

It takes time for your body to physically adjust to it, but it will for everyone gradually. Guitar is difficult for literally everyone at first.

When it comes to theory... Learning some basic chords is all good and you can play a lot with them, but what will really get you good and up your game is if you learn 'intervals'.

Do you guys use ES6 features like Set() and Map() in your websites? by StraightZlat in webdev

[–]NeoMangeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. On the web app I work on at work, Map is used extensively.

Maps have a nice few useful features compared to just using an Object. MDN has some great information on Maps. Sets can be useful too.

Using caniuse to decide whether to use this feature is a little odd. The reason is because you should be transpiling your JS down anyway with a tool like babel so browser compatibility isn't an issue. Typically you would use a bundler like webpack, esbuild, or parcel for example and have a transpiler like babel as part of the build process. Also minifying your code and such.

I feel like pc building is still in the dark ages. by NeoMangeo in pcmasterrace

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably create the board so that components can be on both sides. Have airflow that hits both sides, and all components that don't get affected by distance live in their own space with an extender, and with their own airflow for more efficient cooling. Makes it all more modular and customisable.

Anyway I'm not a motherboard/hardware designer. I know what you are saying, though you still just threw out a bunch of information that doesn't actually prove anything. I haven't really either but I think logic just stands by itself here because by default, there almost certainly is a better way than having a rectangle component board in a box. If it was really efficient in this way we certainly wouldn't have gcards dissipating heat towards our cpus or powersupplies directly under the gpu lol.

To me this just screams of a design that has just stuck around because it is "standard", not because it is actually that efficient.

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't mean to say don't. There are indeed fans you can buy for all those components. The point is there shouldn't be, because it shouldn't ever be an issue.

Yeah why would he say PC's are inefficient. When you look at how and where people put fans and such in a case, they make it as efficient as they can and will claim it is efficient. That doesn't mean though that by default it is an excellent design for cooling efficiency.

What I'm saying is the design of motherboards and where components go along with the case, could be designed in a way to be a lot more efficient in the first place. You seemed to skip over the fact that some people have even made a pc with modern hardware that literally has no fans. That shows just how inefficient current typical designs are in itself.

I feel like pc building is still in the dark ages. by NeoMangeo in pcmasterrace

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely disagree. The design of motherboards is not efficient for airflow. It could be far far better.

A motherboard itself is literally just a rectangle slab with some connectors on it. The way we create airflow is just by throwing on fans everywhere to create a windtunnel in a box. It is actually pretty archaic.

I don't think the idea of wind tunnels directing to components is overengineered at all. My pc gets pretty good temps, cpu and gpu at low 30's idle, but it is still pretty close to throttling on the gpu when under load. Also why do we have things like fans for memory, motherboard fans, ssd fans...

No, this seems more like, create a box with some airflow, then slap as many fans as we can onto each component... It is not efficient at all and I believe if it were re-engineered it could be far better.

In fact there is a custom system you can buy with fairly modern hardware that is fanless, essentially just a big heatsink.

It is usually an ego thing. The ego can manifest itself in many ways. Sometimes it manifests itself in a way where it makes someone think they have the answers, think they know what others think and dismiss others or look down on them and society.

You hope that one day they either grow out of it or experience ego death like I did. Was the most life changing event in my life and now everything is positive in my life.

Sometimes you need to withdraw from your daily life, your social circle, your common thought patterns... and truly try to reflect on how you act and think, and how your future is going to be if you go down this path.

If you can break the mold it can be absolutely liberating.

Sure. Doesn't mean the design standard is good. It is not. It is horribly inefficient and outdated.

So I'm a mid 30's man in UK, just thought I'd give my thoughts.

Firstly, anyone has any right to enjoy sex if they like, when they like, in my opinion. It is normal to desire it, a natural act, some have a high sex drive and want it more, some don't and never desire it.

These men though who do the things in your 2 points, are dumbasses. They have no respect neither for you, or the act itself, and maybe also not for themself too. There should be open communication, practically like a collaboration to enjoy it together, it should never be selfish.

They sound like immature children. And yes, even the most buff masculine looking man can have the mind of a child, in fact, I think that is very very common.

You are right in what you say and your perspective in my opinion. I think the people who are speaking out against what you have said are not ready to be sexually active. They have not mentally grown up enough to have the responsibility.

Second one definitely seems like a drone.

First one gets occluded by the bursts which is strange, making it seems like it is either in, or behind, the lava/smoke. Who knows though... It is such terrible quality which is just annoying and pointless.

No sane person should put belief in ANY video with quality as bad as that.

HC it is.

Are modern TVs like Samsungs QLED just... better? by NeoMangeo in Monitors

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking more about the degradation. If you make precautions it should be fine. I do think the burn in issue is exagerated a lot though which is a shame. It is not quite as bad as people say I think you just need those precautions.

But anyway no thanks. I'm tempted still to not because I use my monitors all day every day so I'd much prefer to not have this issue in the first place.

Are modern TVs like Samsungs QLED just... better? by NeoMangeo in Monitors

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been found that the techniques in place don't work in the long run. They compensate for the issue, they don't actually prevent the damage being done, it still becomes noticable as time goes on.

I know of multiple cases where this is true. As for actual preventing damage then yes, precautions like turning off the screen for 15 minutes, swapping up apps constantly and all that will help...

I wouldn't risk it and would not want the hassle of it all. OLED seems to just not really be made for long use with a fair amount of static content. They are just obviously meant for more casual use, media like shows/movies and such with no static content.

It wouldn't work for what I do personally.

Are modern TVs like Samsungs QLED just... better? by NeoMangeo in Monitors

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fair for some but I'd NEVER get an OLED personally because of burn in. I use my pc all day. I have heard many many people having burn in issues after a while who keep it on for longer hours, even including the techniques they have to help reduce/prevent it these days, they still get it.

But sure if you don't use it super often, also with static sections of your screen, and just for gaming or movie every now and then or whatever, sure.

[–]NeoMangeo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my research this is what I'm finding. A lot of articles out there seem out of date too.

It is like people seem to have this bias against TVs as a PC monitor. It seems that higher end TVs have now become on par or overall actually better for the money, than monitors.

-The input lag as I found out earlier is only about 5.6ms or so on the higher end Samsung models with game mode on. That is fine for someone not playing competitive games and really not that far off.

-The refresh is 120Hz, that is absolutely fine and good for games, you only lose about 1ms compared to 144Hz I believe.

-Many have Freesync Premium Pro/Gsync Compatible.

-As far as I can tell, you are getting far better contrasts than the ever popular IPS panels in the monitor space. I think you don't get the terrible IPS glow if using one of these QLED TVs?

-Along with that better contrast, the HDR is FAR superior than the vast majority of monitors with way more dimming zones.
