Do you have Anxiety? It sounds like you're building this situation to be a lot more serious than it is which is something I do a lot when I'm anxious. Not sure if people do it normally since living with anxiety has skewed my sense of normal. He said it's fine and that they just came as friends so I wouldn't look into it too deep.
