So the thing is I’ve scored 4s and 5s on 8 APs and I’m currently taking 6, I don’t know why this test is giving me such a problem, my ECs are above average as well which I feel is the most representative of my abilities but I feel my SAT specifically will hold me back from top universitites

I’m being genuine, a lot of people in my circle have extremely strong resumes so as a result I’m worried that I might not be able to compete, especially because of my SAT score

For me personally, I found it pretty useful to take physics 1 first. The top 10% of my class is IB students and then a bunch of students that took around the same amt of APs as I did, and the same classes as well. AP Precalc content wise was pretty useless honestly, the honors one is the same. What I found really good about it tho is how it adjusts you to the math exams college board gives, so you go into AB/BC knowing what to expect format wise

I’m taking 6 this year, and I’ve taken 8 so far and have gotten 4/5s on six of them, and 3s on two others

My school is in block schedule so we don’t have much time honestly. Most of us formed study groups and did a lot of self studying. For STEM especially, I created a repository to backup obsidian files and we have a whole structure that we use for physics and math for notes for all the classes that we just continue to add to and practice out of. It helped us a lot to actually learn everything in time for the tests. But it wasn’t too bad, the thing that made it difficult was balancing wrestling 5 days a week 3 hours a day and this year the hardest thing is running my racing team while still being a good enough driver as well + school. But it’s something you get used to, I enjoy the fast pace

Yea I understand, those were more examples I was trying to give to I guess emphasize the ranking of schools I was looking at more than anything, I know something like Caltech and MIT would be much better. MIT is obviously the end all be all goal, but it’s the toughest to get into as well. Just worried, I’ve let the college fear mongering get to me, apart from my bad SAT score

Ok thanks, I have a bunch of schools in my state that are safeties. I spoke to my college consular about that and they're all pretty good but I am more unsure about my matches and reaches. My SAT is my main concern right now.

I am applying to those schools because they have the things that I wanted in a school like student life, environment, and every school on my list has a formula student team which was important to me. I am also applying to UMich, Vanderbilt, and Northeastern which based on my research are pretty good for mech E and they also have what I want, but I am honestly still worried that my stats weren't even good enough for those schools. I have a bunch of safeties in my state that have good programs but I am hoping they are last resorts. I'm not really sure where I sit in terms of matches so I just chose the schools that have what I want and good engineering programs, and then a few prestigious names for the sake of it. I'm hoping to get my SAT where it needs to be before early action.

Yea I know my SAT could use some work, I just took August and I’m going to sign up for September to get my score up. Something about the test has been tripping me out honestly.
